When it goes "on hire" it will come with a Virgin 57/3 depending on the route

In answer to the first question on what service itll be on, it should be on the Fridays Only service to preston, with the stock being spare for the rest of the week...although if another pendilino goes bang, then it might make it back on the birmingham new street services...

390006 (the damaged pendolino) has been on test this week. It needs re-painting so I wouldn't be suprised if the daily 90 diagram comes to an end soon.

Hear they have broken a Voyager in the mean time though so the Mk3 set will stay out until that is back aswell (about a month mentioned.)

I presume thats the Voyager which has a dis-agreement with a freight container door the other day.

Good...Looks like the VT Mk3's will be around for quite sometime more...

Isnt it funny how Virgins old stock is slowly coming back to haunt them, ie after replacing all the 47's & Mk2's & 86/87/90s & Mk3's with Pendilinos and Voyagers...now there newer stuff is becoming damaged from time to time and whats needed to be back in service...the good old trusty Class 90 & Mk3 rakes...

As for the DVT's, shall be interesting to see what happens to the second DVT when the sets completed, as one DVT will be in service with VT on in service passenger duties, whilst the other will be for charters etc...and will carry VT livery but no VT branding...guess thatll be stored at Wembley for the time beeing...

Also - like the VT Class 90...read in rail magazine that Chris Gibb is considering getting a DB 90 repainted into VT's livery but is adement on whatll happen to it when its not in service with VT...or in otherwords, looks like he dosent want a repeat of whats happend to the FSR class 90's...temporarily working for NXEA...though one thing i noticed about that website...the 455 in LOL livery is abit of a odd photoshop - something tells me that thats not actually a 455, partly the fact theres no 3rd rail pick ups on the bogies, and partly becasue those type windows are the earlier type,as found on 317's..though despite that...theres some very nice images on there...mainly liking the Loadhaul 66 and the 67's in different guises...possibly except the railfreight one...

I can say with some certainty that if Mr Gibb wants a repainted 90 which will work 'his' Friday's only train and sit around for the rest of the week doing sod all just because it says Virgin on the side, he will have to pay for the privilege.

There is no way EWS would entertain it otherwise, it would cost them too much in terms of providing another loco to make up the shortfall in the main fleet when there is no real need for it.

I'm pretty sure that's at Cambridge with the wires 'shopped out of the image. Rather distinctive building.

You're quite right, I couldn't find any high quality creative commons images of a refurbished 455, so I had to heavily modify a photo of a 317. The original photo can be found here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:317305_at_Cambridge.jpg .
Thanks for your comments on my website, I'm glad you like it.

I have got to admit I like the new VT livery on the Class 82 DVT and the MK3s,and got to say aswell the best livery I have seen on a MK3 In ages.

I saw it twice today - once from a distance, flying along, and then closer later. It looks, in my opinion, stunning. While I hate Pendolinos, I do love the livery, and on the Mk3s with the DVT it looks superb - can't wait to go for a run!

I take it the set has replaced the other loco hauled set doing the Birmingham-Euston runs which in turn replaced the Pendolino being repaired? What was the set hauled by?

Saw it yesterday (31st july) at new street. There were 8 painted coaches and a dvt in the beautiful shiny livery which gives a new look to the mark 3s. On the other end was 90029 " The institution of civil engineers" in EWS red and gold.
