I get the impression not all the Velaros are in yet. Last I noticed 374025 - 374034 were not about (undelivered ?). Also two earlier 374s (374013 & 374014) are hanging around in Holland apparently. So I guess Eurostar have yet to get use of six pairs out of seventeen. With only eleven pairs of 374s in use (from my observations) that leads me to believe Eurostar will not be using 374s on Bruxelles services yet.

No. I'm on Brussels trains regularly and can't remember the last time I stopped there. It was years ago.

The containers have only been there for a few years, not sure how long, maybe about 5 years?
Before the containers were placed around the yard there was a good view of the yard from passing trains.

Still, that's long enough to make it unlikely that they were put in place specifically to hide the 373s.

On my train last night talking to fellow passengers around me it was a unanimous verdict that the new Eurostars / refurbed e300s are "horrible"and "really uncomfortable". One guy's opinion was he could just about put up with it for 2 hours but any longer and he would fly. Thankfully we were sitting in an old one, but if the number of times the suspension hit the end stops was anything to go by, they've given up maintenance on it too.

The site may have been intentionally chosen for its already-shielded position, however.

At least 8 years, they were there when i used to travel between meadowhall and swinton regularly.

Just seen this. Thanks for the info.

Knowing the increase in Health & Safety focus over past few years I suspect this might have been a reason too, i.e. chopping up trains with various heavy machinery next to a live railway is probably no longer allowed without a "barrier"?!

I seem to remember reading (before the scrapping started) that Booths would also be involved with processing 373s. Any ideas on whether this will now happen?

I'm on an unidentified refurb 373 at the moment. Superficially they've done an amazing job - it looks like a new train - but clearly they haven't used the highest quality materials, as the fake leather coating on my arm rest is already peeling off. I find the seats pretty comfortable, though I liked the original ones too.

The ride quality on this one is excellent. Are they doing anything mechanical to the sets they're refurbishing and keeping or am I just lucky?

I remember as a young boy standing on the platform at Waterloo Int'l watching what was then ground-breaking technology all moving around me before heading off to Disneyland... How I wish I could go back. *replaces spectacles with clear ones*
