Have the 33xx NoL sets already gone to become razor blades, or are they still in store somewhere?

My apologies if this is the wrong thread, but I saw this article in the i newspaper yesterday:

"Eurostar refitting older rolling stock
Eurostar is transforming it's older trains to be given the same "look and feel" as the new E320 fleet, which entered service in November 2015. Eurostar is refitting older trains with modern interiors and Wi-Fi. The process for each train takes six months and includes the installation of 30,000 new parts and 2,086 new lights."

That's all, folks ..... I note that it doesn't say where this work is to be carried out, though.

I reckon there were at least four power/driving cars plus a few coaches when I passed Kingsbury EMR today. All peeping out from behind the container barricade.

So are the refurb rakes using complete rakes as built or will they pick and choose the best condition vehicles and use those?

Sure Im going to answer my own question here by saying something along the lines of Id imagine artic trainsets are quite complicated to split/join compared to bogie stock....

Platform 5's 2017 EMU pocket book has

3013/3014
3017/3018
3019/3020
3101/3102
stored in the UK

3207/3208
stored in France

3017 is the power car Michael Portillo walks past in the opening credits of Great Continental Railway Journeys!

You just need jacks for the bodies and a well to drop the bogies into.

From what have seen at StPancras there are no barrier coaches - the 66 is attached via a complicated buffer/coupling bar to the coupling on the 373 power car. So there is only the loco (66) left to escape from the scrappies !.
I get that, but this wasn't a move to the scrapyard. It was out to Fawkham where there is (was?) some stock stored. I assumed it would be a light loco move out and return with stock in tow.

The video posted above leads me to believe that this is what actually happened.

SNCF official retired them from French domestic services at the end of 2014.
Last I heard (early 2015), they were sent to Amberieu pending disposal.

Hmmm, confusing. Thinking about it I could expect a 373 to make it under its own power from Fawkham "sidings" to Temple Mills anyway. This is because I was lead to believe that the 373s make it under their own power from Temple Mills to StPancras. It is only at StPancras that they finally cease to live and get towed to their fate by a single 66. Certainly from my own observations no loco gets attached to the 373 pair until it has arrived at StPancras (the platform next to the MML btw).

According to info on French forums, it seems there are some mix and match combinations, where the passenger vehicles are being paired up with different power cars than their original partners.
Some power cars have also been renumbered.

For example, it's been reported that the trailers of 3203/04 (a former SNCF domestic set serving Lille-Paris) escaped the torch and have been refurbished and were seen paired with the reserve engine 3999 (in blue) and 3230 (in original livery) last summer.

The same source says that 3230 has been renumbered as 3203.

3101/3102 was the Three Capitals set involved in a high speed derailment in June 2000. It lay out of action in Brussels for years, before being sent to Temple Mills in 2008.
It was later split up and half set 3102 was transferred to France to serve as a model for the refurbishment programme.
It was reported that 3102 left Hellemmes on 29/07/2015 (behind loco CC 72074) to be scrapped in Valenciennes.

Those trailers are now between the power cars from 3211/2.

For a 373 stored for that long i guarantee that the batteries will be flat! Not logistically possible to take a charger to kickstart it so the krupps will be the easier option. Yes it does have to make its way under own power from the depot to St Pancras but they have all the amenities at temple mills.

I presume the AC is now dead down Fawkham way?

Isn't there a grid feeder station part way along that section?

Has anyone been past EMR at Kingsbury recently? Those are pretty long trains to process for scrap and I was wondering if anyone had got any sightings of late or are they well and truly hidden by that container barricade?

The power cars are being coupled nose to nose out of the way towards the bottom (visible) end of the yard, while EMR busy themselves ripping apart the coaching sets out of sight behind the containers, though you might see the resident shunter trundling a coaching set around if you're passing at the right time.

There are scrap trains coming out of Kingsbury now with visible bits of Eurostar heaped up in them.
