Glasgow airport to Stirling using the fast bus and train is about as straightfoward as its ever likely to be. The bus drops off/picks up outside the station in George Square, not sure what the issue is?

Yes indeed. Dalmeny Chord will happen in CP6 I'm sure.

Initially Stirling services are likely to remain going via the new station in Winchburgh and Edinburgh Park and I'm not sure Gateway is a huge time saving compared to Edinburgh Park.

However once the proposed new Glasgow - Cumbernauld - Falkirk Grahamston - Edinburgh service starts I'd perhaps expect it to pick up the Winchburgh / Edinburgh Park calls and Stirling services to run limited stop via Edinburgh Gateway.

And if Edinburgh-Glasgow HSR is built you could divert 2tph from Glasgow/Falkirk High via Gateway.

This.

Spend a fraction of the money on making the bus service 'great'. Empty airport trains are not a good use of capacity between Paisley and Glasgow.

In theory you can divert all 4tph from Glasgow/Falkirk High via Gateway as soon as the Dalmeny Chord opens as they don't stop between Linlithgow and Haymarket.

Will just depend on timetabling what is the right balance between north and south lines at Haymarket to maximise capacity.

End to end journey times would increase though, undoing some of the benefits of EGIP Phase 1.

The report reads as though the paths exist on paper, but do not consider the impact on the wider network; this will be done in the full business case. A waste of money IMO.

Update on GARL 2:
The Executive Steering Group incorporating the Minister for Transport (chair), the Leaders and Chief Executives of Glasgow City Council and Renfrewshire Council, the Chief Executive of Glasgow Airport and the Chief Executive of Network Rail met on 20th January and are due to meet again on 26th April 2017. Key points to note are:

 Transport Scotland Audit of AAP OBC: Transport Scotland have commissioned Jacobs Engineering to provide a review of the AAP OBC. Emerging findings will be presented to the Project Stakeholder Group on the 19th April 2017 with the final report programmed to be available in May 2017.

 Network Rail Update on Capacity Considerations: Network Rail have reported on work they have undertaken on the capacity of the Paisley Corridor (Paisley Gilmour St to Glasgow Central). This work is showing that the main constraint on capacity is expected to be on the Paisley to Glasgow corridor at peak times, and on the lines approaching Paisley Gilmour Street where trains running from Ayrshire can conflict with trains bound for Inverclyde. Further work will be done on this over the coming months, working with the AAP project team to build on their timetable modelling. Network Rail are also carrying out work to understand the issues of platform capacity at Central station. This work is expected to be concluded by the end of May.

The project team are progressing key elements of work to inform the Full Business Case, this includes procurement of consultancy support to assist with development of infrastructure details, operation and maintenance modelling and traffic modelling.
