Goig out to take some photos of the London midland 321s tomorrow and just wondering. Do the diagrams booked to go into Euston run in pairs?

Sunday sees the end of 321 Operations with London Midland and its various predecessors, the units have served them well for the best part of 26 years.
The final LM 321 service is scheduled to be the 1507 Watford Jn-St Albans Abbey and return, with the 1607 and return the first servoce worked by the 319's.

Sadly it was nice train ride between St Albans Abbey and Watford, which train to replace? where will the 321 move to where?

:( They will be missed on the LM network.

The 321s are going to ScotRail (once they've been to Doncaster for refurb and shortening to 3 car), they will be replaced on LM by 319s displaced from Thameslink.

That should lead to some interesting maneuvers around Watford that afternoon as I understand that the St Albans unit is "locked" into the branch.

2 to LO for a fair while as posted on the other thread though.

Last bit of the WCML I grew up with finally going...

It's not quite so restrictive since the re-signalling work was completed; it's now a Main Aspect route on and off the branch (it was previously a Ground Frame that needed to be operated)

Anyway, the 321 leaves the branch by heading out of Platform 11 straight along the Up Slow to Euston, and then returning ECS back to Northampton (rather than attempting to reverse immediately south of Watford Junction):

Then the 319 arrives from Northampton via the Up Slow (after the 319 has left the branch entirely), reverses south of the station (looking like it exchanges crew as it first arrives at Watford - possibly a driver in the back cab to give a quicker reversal?) and thence into Platform 11:

I heard recently that they're staying 4 car now? Can't remember who or what thread but it was on here.

Fair enough - I haven't heard much about the LO rumour, presumably two of the three still with LM rather than those which have already gone north.

Only just seen this. That was lucky of me getting a station leap on a Tring terminator today. Probably for the last time. 415+417 did the honours.

It's all happened so fast. It wasn't that long ago 411 went to Donny.

Is anyone planning to head to Watford for the last 2 LM 321 moves. If I have the time I will try and get down for them.

I will try and get on the last LM 321 movement (and first LM 319 movement) on Sunday, although won't be from Watford as I will be clearing out my remaining shacks on that line :)

Which shacks do you need on that line? I will try and be there for the Dusty but I'm not sure if I can be asked staying for another hour in order to get a 319.

Aboard possibly my last ever 321.
Nice to see LM marking the occasion on their platform displays - "Formed of 'Class 321' units for the last time since 1987"

Can I confirm the 319 launch / last 321 working is still happening today (Sunday)? I'd rather not go all the way to Watford and be disappointed!

They could have least tidied 216 up a bit, ie removed the TGN posters (although looked like another passenger had them)

Also despite the sceptism there was a 1247 Northampton-Ilford with the units for LOROL (unallocated, but two from 414/415/417 presumably)

Behave, its LM, never expect anything above the bare minimum. There was Silverlink stuff in the 321s to the end.

319429/460 show at Bletchley CS for tomorrow, possibly the 0554 MK-EN and diagram?

Is TfL London Rail not more likely, especially if they're at Ilford? Or can they hide them away from mainstream LO by using them on Romford - Upminster? In fact thinking about it they must be hidden away from the original LO, the 378 operated areas of the NLL, ELL and DC as they are AC only units...

Did you expect any less? No doubt they end up on Ebay
