Good luck getting 220010. Obviously XC end up all over the country!

My last unit was 220003. Luckily, and purely by chance, I managed to get it on a short hop between Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway after trying about two weeks to get it!

Thanks for that. I have never chased the 220/221 which is probably why it has taken me so long to get them since the classes were introduced.

Only 3 LM 172s left to try and get (219, 341, 343), didn't see them about yesterday. Did some stalling to get 216 & 336 in the book [as in saw them in passing and worked out when they would be back]

172341 and 172343 were some of the first I got  and have seen '341 several times since then, across three Daytrippers and one Great Escape! Have also had 172219 on the back of 172345 on a Smethwick G B to Birmingham S H bus stop bash :D.

Not our fault he's been on so many more units than us . My figure would be higher if I treated everything since I started keeping records as a fresh start, instead of leaving those out that I'm certain I've been on ;)

I was going to refrain from making such a comment, but I cannot disagree! On the bright side, it shows I've been on the scene for much longer than some of this thread's contributors, and have a much fuller book than them! ;) :D

Still, I intend to have a number of reasonable length posts to make on this thread on 11th May, 18th May, 31st May, 1st June and on 3rd August at the very least! Yep, that means I've got some big trips coming up! :D <D Note a lack of mention of July yet there, simply because I have nothing booked for that month yet.

Oh and let's not mention the proposed 3 day extravagansa in September! <D

He'll be even more jealous when he realises I've just overtaken him in the mileage competition ;) (temporarily no doubt)

I see you got your two pennyworth in with your London escapades :)
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Likewise, I'm not counting units that are coupled to the one I'm travelling in. Makes it all the more definitive :)

What I try and do is position myself conveniently and at a station move to the other unit, either by the connection or being ready to jump off and back on at a station. Otherwise it doesn't seem right.

I won't post what came to mind, it's beyond impolite and I'm not willing to be rude to a fellow legend of the forum! ;)

Absolutely it's only temporary, I've got around 270 miles to add on Monday and a good few hundred the week after <D

If I do decide to go ahead with a plan I've got consideration on for later this year I'm guaranteed to stay ahead ;)

*Waits for crehld to announce something massive like a 14 day ALR*

I don't think you have anything to worry about... My pockets aren't that deep! And your comment about you having filled your book a long time ago and the rest of us just starting certainly applies in my case!

I would love to do a 14 day ALR, but First Class this time. Halfway to affording a 7 day version in First Class ;)

You're all making me feel like a top man lol, not to mention sending me down Nostalgia Avenue. Standing at the west end of Cardiff Central on 21st February 2004, ahead of the UKTS Live event, spotting and my Platform 5 Locomotives book being very empty at the time! How different things are now...

Don't worry though, we'll all be in the same boat with 700s, 800s, 801s, 345s and all manners of other new classes in the coming years!

Assuming I still live here then, going to try and be one of the first to 100% the Class 345 :)
It's my local line with a year's headstart on the rest of the crossrail network so I don't really have much excuse!
Combination of workload and no railmiles has led me to leave my mileage & red pen for a while, so I have a couple of months' backlog to fill in. Not going to be huge wins as I don't travel quite as often as last year but should be a few thousand in there I reckon. All at my employer's expense, naturally :)
