We weren't doing anything really, just chatting and hugging and stuff, not even any kissing. He was sat opposite and getting more and more uncomfortable, fidgeting and sweating and trying to avoid looking and so on. Eventually, after about 10 stops, he got up and moved to the opposite end of the tube carriage, and most of the (few) people also in the carriage gave him "what a ****" looks...

People are the same wherever you go I'm afraid. In my school you won't find people being chastised for being homosexual - everyone gets along in that respect despite their personal views and preferences.

Also when people walk past you and ram their shoulders into you...
That kinda thing REALLY ****es me off.

London experience has its uses - once you become accustomed to shopping in Oxford Street etc you soon get used to barging/henching people so hard that they drop their shopping - lets face it they wouldn't think twice about doing the same to you and its their own fault if they don't move out of the way. Making a clear path is the way forward 8)

I get nervous when guys and girls (in any combination - M+F, M+M, F+F) do that in a carriage near me

There is a technique of avoiding issues by avoiding things. Though not in such an obviously vulnerable group, I am still a great target for beatings and muggings, and my technique is to act almost invisible and go out my way to no be able to provoke anyone in anyway. This is the wimps route but it has kept me with ost limbs, and my phone and keys. But then I;m a shy wimp when it comes to dealing with people, even asking them out.....

Yeah, I find kissing and all that in public quite inappropriate.
I think it's okay for a greeting or farewell kiss, or hugging. But I remember last year, I was sat in front of a teenage couple who just sat there kissing and the girl was talking in a baby voice. I was actually red with frustration and anger. I could have quite happily killed them both!
People in general make me nervous, nevermind people kissing and all that in front of me.
