That is something that bugs me. By May TPX will have 8 spare 185s so rather than lengthen Bolton's remaining services to six coaches they are starting up new routes. Why are experimenting with new routes when they cant handle demand for their current services![]()
It's not a new route. It's an amendment to existing routes and service patterns to introduce an additional hourly service intended to increase capacity. The changes for the new service won't require 8 additional units (probably a net increase of 4 units - as the Newcastle to Airport service is being cut back to York) and some will be used elsewhere (likely Manchester to Hull and the North West). Users of the North Transpennine routes are as deserving of relief from overcrowding as users of the North West routes.
