I have just been on their website (FCC) and it is not showing these vacancies any more am I blind or is this right. Closing date is supposed to be the 6th

It's not at all unusual for advertised vacancies to shut down early due to the huge volume of applicants they normally attract. Anyone who see a trainee vacancy and who wants to apply should do so at the earliest possible opportunity or risk missing out.

It's likely to be the relevant TOC sifting applications, rather than a general First Group recruiting department and maybe one TOC has 100 applicants for 10 positions and the other 1000 for 50 positions, giving a different chance of success.

Also, it's not an exact science - different people sifting may mark things slightly differently. I don't think there is such a thing as a "guaranteed pass" with an application!

I've applied for this, and I have taken the online assessments, but I am a little confused

It says for the second assessment that it should take around 30 mins, mine lasted about 7!

Is this a good or bad thing?

It was an auto timed page, so you had the assessment clock running automatically

I answered the questions but missed a couple, I am just now worried that I did not do very well so the test finished on its own?

I wouldn't worry, I've taken the online tests three times each (applied for 3 different trainee driver positions in different locations). Each one has taken about 7-10 minutes. Good luck! I always found out the results within a week of doing the online tests.

Truthfully mate I think there was something wrong with test the second part was just unbelievably quick there was not enough time to check those numbers properly as far as I'm concerned and judging by the other posts most people seemed to have failed it as well

Took me 7 or 8 minutes to do it and after doing it I've got a telephone interview tomorrow.
It did seem to go very quickly but didn't seem to be much different to the practice test that I did loads of times if I'm honest. Get in touch with them and see if they'll let you do it again, can't hurt to try.
Any other lurkers had an interview today?

No call from me, yes the time went very quickly but thats how the test is suppose to be maybe? Speed and accuracy under pressure, if I failed then I will retry in 6 months, I dont know if they let you know that you've failed I have had nothing in my emails to give me any clue so its a waiting game

I will wait for confirmation before I sulk lol

Hope you still get some good news, it's not easy to predict or obvious that they use some chronological order to get in touch with people so keep your fingers crossed mate

I did it Wednesday night and got the email titled "We'd love to speak to you" on Thursday afternoon.

I found that a little time spent on the practice examples was enough to prepare for the real deal. It was quick but then I suppose that is the whole purpose of it. Being able to memorise info and relay it quickly.

I got the same e-mail and have my telephone interview booked for next week

Took me 7 or 8 minutes to do it and after doing it I've got a telephone interview tomorrow.

Not sure. Was on the phone for 15 minutes and it was mainly concentrated on customer service. I felt like I was repeating myself a lot of the time tbh.
The ladies questions seemed to be the same but phrased in a different way.
In fact I'm sure she asked the same question the same way a couple of times. Maybe trying to get more out of me than i had given but there is only so many ways you can say I realise how much of a role safety plays in the job.
Don't feel as though she asked me for as many real world examples or experiences as I would have liked. My notes are only half as crossed out as I thought they'd be.
But, who knows?

Sounds like my MMI, I kept repeating myself and was silently thinking there's nothing else I can say, that's what happened and there is no more LOL

Fair enough mate, I struggled with it yet got good passes on GB and reactions, maybe I am just a numpty as it seems I failed at the last hurdle anyway, A bit of advice for you though if you get through to the DM PM me because this is the only part I think I have failed and I thought the CBI was brutal but the DM was real tough no room for stalling or getting a second chance to answer their questions good luck buddy

Thanks for that offer Rob, I will take you up on it if I get that far. Had the email today to say the phone interview went well and to wait for 1st assessment instructions so it's still possible.
You hardly qualify as a numpty if you got that far mate!
Keep your chin up, stay positive and believe it will work out in the end, despite how frustrating it is in your situation having to wait 6 months.
Just keep telling yourself that if that is all you failed on then you will be able to put the experience to good use and get through it easier next time you get the chance!

I have the telephone interview tomorrow morning, having read the feedback it seems to be around customer focus. If no one minds from those that have sat the interview are there any questions around following rules and regulations or working on your own.

I know it may be a bit of a cheek, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just when I was beginning to think it was over before it started....

I HAD THE EMAIL!!!!

I have a telephone interview booked!!!!

The sad part is I have had to make it for Christmas eve!!

I have a terrible cough and cold and I have lost my voice

I am also flying out to see my Brother tomorrow so I am not back until the 22nd December, so I have had to delay it until the 24th

I only hope that they dont see that as a "He isnt really bothered" because I really am, I just couldn't do a telephone interview at the moment there isnt a hope in hell

I doubt that will matter. If they have 100 people to interview, and 100 slots to fill they won't care which order they see people in.
