We decide upon a journey eastwards and board the 1145 EYMS service 45 to Pocklington (Barmby Road) that arrives there at 1228 on Saturday afternoon.

We have a little while to wait for an onward journey but find one in the shape of the 19:55 EYMS 45 service which conveys us to Bridlington Bus Station arriving at 20:29 on Saturday.

The unwary traveller arriving at the reasonably early Saturday night time of 2029 at the seaside resort of Bridlington, would expect to find an onward connection, discounting the service arrived at the bus station. However, there seems to be collusion between the taxi companies and the resort accommodation providers that only these two options are available at this early time of the evening for those RailUK travellers who are not allowed to walk to a railway station from the bus station, so we reluctantly book in at a small but reasonably priced hotel for the night and are told we can still order an evening meal, which we gratefully accept the offer with profuse thanks and ask if we can have an early morning alarm call on Sunday morning and a very early breakfast to sustain us for that day. Sunday morning sees us up and about very early and a most excellent Yorkshire full cooked breakfast awaits us, then we set off back to the bus station where we then board the 0810 EYMS service 121 to Osgodby (Hill Top) that arrives there at 0904 on Sunday morning.

As far as I can make out, that particular stop has one bus a week in one direction only There's plenty of buses in the area but without walking a couple of minutes to another stop (the Post Office say) we are stuck there.

I don't get it - the 09:20 (Sundays) from Scarborough is down in TPX's timetable as calling at Seamer, Malton, York, Leeds, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport, where it terminates at 11:55. A search on Realtimetrains suggests that on the 6th of October, the service is running as you describe via Newton-le-Willows, but on the 13th of October its running via Warrington Central, without the Dewsbury call, but with additional call at Stalybridge.

I can answer your query be referring to the fact that we have to abide by the actual date for such as items as forward planning when a "quiz day" is the key day of a service. The first available forward "Sunday" to use therefore would be the 6th October, which you have clearly shown in your posting, is the date and NOT the following "Sunday" of 13th October.

Actual timetables that apply on the proposed date of travel that reflect the status quo on that day, which can be found and checked by reference to the National Rail Enquiries or to Realtimetrains, is therefore more a correct reflection of matters per se than a printed timetable where weekend travel in particular can cause a somewhat different timetable to so apply.

Therefore, my contention is that my posting is correct as it used those more correct parameters.

You should use the current timetable for the relevant day not including timetable variations for engineering works. You may use regular timetabled services which you even if boarding is only possible subject to availability (including National Express coach, the Caledonian sleeper and the Jacobite steam train but not railtours). On 25/26 December this game considers a full timetable for the relevant day to be in use.

I think that this part of the rules, and specifically the part that I've put in bold deals with this case. A search through the future engineering works section NRE tells me that engineering work is closing the CLC line between Warrington Central and Hunts Cross, therefore considering the rules, we should still consider the service that would have been running had the CLC line not been shut.

I was away all Saturday and have only just viewed the quiz, but even though the traffic can be quite busy in Buxton on a Sunday, with many visitors descending upon the town, there are surely not any services taking 26 minutes from one part of Buxton to another....hock:
