At this time of night only the Metro services have any departures. So we board the 22:32 Tyne & Wear Metro service to Newcastle Airport arriving 23:26 on Monday.

On asking about onward journeys at this time at night, we are given a look of resignation and an answer full of negativity, so there is nothing to do but wait the arrival of the first morning Metro service from this terminal point on the system so we eventually board the 0537 Tyne and Wear Metro service to Pallion that arrives there at 0636 on Tuesday morning.

We take the opportunity to connect with the national rail network by taking the short journey to Sunderland on the 06:52 Tyne & wear Metro service arriving at 07:00 on Tuesday morning.

We could return eastwards on the next available service, but we decide to continue exploring the Tyne Valley route, and the Borders area by joining the 08:59 Northern service to Haltwhistle arriving at 09:21 on Tuesday morning.

We see from the departures screen trains to a variety of destinations. After taking refreshment we decide on a trip on the G & SW route, though sadly it no longer runs to St Enoch station. However our journey will only convey us on the G & SW predecessor - the Glasgow, Dumfries & Carlisle Railway as we board the 11:15 FSR service to Kirkconnel arriving at 12:24 on Tuesday.

Annoyed that the 221 bus does not approach the railway station, we decide to stay with rail as the chosen mode of travel and we next board the 1324 First ScotRail service to Prudhoe that arrives there at 1534 on Tuesday afternoon.

--- old post above --- --- new post below ---

NOTE : There is a rail/bus interchange at Prudhoe.

Whilst we could achieve an earlier departure and arrival is does mean a walk that is not permitted. However it isn't too long before there is a bus from the current stop. We board the 17:20 Go North East 47 service to Winlaton Mill (Post Office) arriving at 17:51 on Tuesday.

Abiding by the connections time limit we find ourselves with a wait until our next departure. We continue our journey on the 20:00 Nexus R3 service (operated by TGM Group - Classic Coaches) for the short trip to Ryton (Whitewell Lane) arriving at 20:09 on Tuesday evening.

We don't have too long to wait in this suburb before our next bus journey. The 21:43 Go North East 31 service conveys us to the Metrocentre Interchange arriving at 22:02 on Tuesday evening.

No more buses can be found for the remained of the evening so we bunk down for the night. We do however awake nice and early for the 0536 Go North East service 10 back to Newcastle, Eldon Square Bus Station where we arrive at 0645 on Wednesday Morning

Looking to return to a larger settlement, we next board the 1054 Go North East service 14 to Durham (North Road) that arrives there at 1115 on Wednesday morning.
As this service isn't booked to go into Durham Bus Station we are wary that walking to such a facility from the arrival stop may not be permitted. We therefore wait for the next service. We continue on the 11:40 Go North East 13 service for the short trip to the next timing point at Durham Milburngate arriving at 11:41 on Wednesday morning.

We decide on a slightly longer journey around the area as we board the imaginatively titled Whey Aye Five-O Go North East 50 service departing at 13:28 to South Shields (Market) arriving at 14:48 on Wednesday.

Sorry to have to rule out your posting, but the previous posting showed an arrival time of 14:48...36 minutes later than the start of your posting.
