Hi Everyone!
It will be my birthday in a few weeks time! I really want to go Desiro Bashing but I have one problem! I live in Banbury so getting to Reading or Basingstoke wouldnt be a problem, I would like to know where the 450's run from - to and when they run. I am planning to travel on Saturday 24Th February and would like to do a circular stopping off somewhere nice! Price wise I would like to be around £100 for 2 adults one child!

Hope you can help

Nath

One: if your going 450 bashing for your birthday you really need to get out more!!

Two: there on most suburban services and service to Alton, Basingstoke stoppers, THE POMPEY ROAD! basically everywhere!

A circular trip from Reading could be a bash on a Reading - Waterloo service to Staines, followed by another pair of 450s to Windsor and a 165 to Slough and whatever back to Reading. Not terribly expensive.

If you go to Basingstoke you could get a 450 to Havant, with another up to Clapham Junction and back to Reading on a 450. More expensive but still not too bad.

A slight variation to the above trip would be to go to Southampton Central, 450 on a stopper to Portsmouth, 450 to Clapham Junction and 450 to Reading. Not sure whether 450s run off Basingstoke to Southampton though.

Those I would recommend if you were just doing some for your birthday. I would personally prefer something better in terms of traction but that's because I would rather some nice thrashy diesel action instead! Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have fun!

South Kensington is the nearest Tube Station.

It's a 10/15 minute walk to the Science Museum via a Subway from the Tube Station.

It's also got the Game On exhibition there until the 26th. I'm thinking of going to it on Friday.

The Transport Museum in Covent Garden is worth a visit!

EDIT: The Science Museum is near South Kensington station. Around 5 minutes' walk away from it I think, heading due north out of the Tube station. http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk should have everything you want to know on that.

No no no, go for 444s; they have 2+2 seating and a proper door layout and a buffet, and are longer and the FC is great!

:)

444s run on Weymouth / Poole / Southampton - London trains, plenty stop at Basing.

The 0612 [corrected. ta!] Waterloo-Wareham is a 450 right the way through, that then runs Wareham-Brockenhurst stopping shuttles. That's the longest trip you can do on one outside engineering works upsetting the timetable I believe.

Nope, 350s have the suburban door layout; 444s have proper vestibules and express door arrangement, and also have a buffet.

350s and 450s are different; whilst they may have the same body shell, the insides are totally different, they have a panto (350s interestingly have pickup shoes though) 450s don't etc.

Anyway; 350s should be 450s but the order got diverted (ta SRA :( ).
