People are already moving further out - in some cases outside London altogether - because the cost of housing is increasing.
The fare from Chesham to Kings Cross is £7.00 during peak hours and £4.10 during off peak hours, which is quite expensive.
Would be interesting to compare the cost of travelling from Chelsham, on the London/Surrey border, to central London using Southern Trains, with Chesham and the Met.
There'd be an outcry!
P.S. And rightly so
Any chance you could hint where Chelsham is? Or what the nearest rail station is?

Halfway between Biggin Hill and Whyteleafe. ~2.7 miles to Upper Warlingham by the 409 metrobus
True, I was able to buy a £5 fare in the VTEC sale to only go one stop, someone travelling on the Metropolitan Railway (or 'tube' if you must, though it really isn'tFurthermore, it would be unfair if someone traveling 3 stops pays the same as someone taking the Tube to Watford.
I'm wondering if this comparison may be best in a dedicated thread, but we can keep it here for now.Would be interesting to compare the cost of travelling from Chelsham, on the London/Surrey border, to central London using Southern Trains, with Chesham and the Met.

The cost "using Southern (branded) trains" from the nearest station to Chelsham to central London would be £45.50 for a week, however I'm assuming you want to include the bus to the station, so a Travelcard at £59.10 would be required, which would allow buses at either end, as well as any other valid rail service within the Zones.
For Chesham to London, I can't see any way to get the cost below £70 (10 x £7 peak journeys), assuming it's a regular peak-time commute. A Travelcard would cost more (£84.20) though presumably wouldn't be required for this comparison, as Chesham is lucky enough to have a rail service.
So, now that we have that comparison, there will be an outcry?
