Glasgow to London St Pancras
HST say six cars and two kitchen cars
The cars would be converted to luxury "Pullman" standard but not over the top.
Understated but quality feel.
Route: Glasgow Central to Carlisle via G&SW then via Settle and Carlisle to Sheffield, Midland to St Pancras, stops to be decided.
Departing at 10.00 morning coffee served on departure, Lunch 12-2, and afternoon tea before arrival at London/Glasgow around 1700. Food - first class but not overly fussy with Scottish/English theme.
Aimed at ordinary travellers who have to travel but want to do so in comfort and are not bothered at 2-3 hr time penalty and pay a reasonable premium.
Heavily marketed to incoming tourists - part of tour itineraries but also combining luxury/heritage travel experience over highly scenic historic route.
From Scotland/N.o.England short break/theatre and stay packages.
Connecting at St Pancras with evening Eurostars/DB ICE to a range of destinations with special through fares and short break packages.
Think of it eating your Steak and Kidney pudding or Fillet of Scotch Salmon with the Pennines as backdrop.
With a quality team in charge could become a fixture on the UK tourist map with the concept extended to other routes.
