Looking to go on this in a couple of weeks, using through Advance tickets from London. Should be doing the 1455 Norwich to Lowestoft, then a bit later a bus down the coast to get the 1817 Great Yarmouth to Norwich (in time for the Class 321 set back to London at 1930 :D).

I saw the 12.36 service at Norwich yesterday and it consisted of 2x 47s and three coaches, one of which was a half brake. Is this usual? surely the capacity wouldn't have been any more than a 156?

But so much more comfortable. It must be quite a novelty for some passengers to have a semblance of leg room and be able to see out of the windows.

We don't suffer too much here in East Anglia with views from the train. Our 153,156 & 170s are all pretty panoramic.

On its booked diagram. Just heard it thrash away from The Gardens :p

Great. Now just hope the points failure at Eccles Road doesn't mess things up too much for me.

The trial new freight flow into Eccles Road hasn't been too successful for the passenger trains then? Seems ok now albeit with a 153 now covering for a 3-car 170.

Boy they are impressive. Passed then several times today. Both locos powering & thankfully not an eco-friendly driver in sight :p

Is this the way it will stay, or are there plans to have the rear loco idling or dead in future?

Not known it to idle yet but this may occur if not a through wired loco & then a riding driver will have to be provided on the rear machine as with the 47s.

How reliable are the 37's turning out to be in East Anglia? Noticed on the Cl37 group workings page that it has been worked by 405 and 425 since they took over. I am in Cumbria and there have been a few failures on the ones on there. Cheers

Been a resounding success so far. Couple of hiccups but compared to the cl47 operation operated previously but its 1000% better. AGA are most impressed. Only down side has been the number of noise complaints recieved from thos living alongside the Wherry Lines.

Caught these yesterday. What a joy to actually be on a proper train with proper carriages and proper locos. :) I managed a few photos too.

Admittedly I bunked off at Great Yarmouth for a while to grab a meal and cider (Thank Wetherspoons ;) ).

37405 and 37425 did a sterling job and there a were a number of enthusiasts on the train.

All in all a good day. More info will be on my NEW blog soon enough.

Ah, 37419, which also failed when I went to get it on the Cumbrian Coast. Old habits die hard. :p

Which one was it supposed to be operating in place of?

Has 419 been fitted with DRA and remote fire extinguisher equipment ala 405/425?

Has a DRS rider. Not sure about DRA but will check. 90034 was refused until it was fitted but there where exeptions with traction classes that AGA drivers had never had this equipment fitted.

37419 has replaced 37425 on Anglia short set. 37 425 needs exam. When done, 37 405 will go. When 37 405 returns, 37 419 leaves.
