Not everywhere; we do have a Best Towns thread as well. However, it is decisively shorter than this...
Well during the day Ponte-carlo is all right after dark into the early hours of the morning less so...![]()
You could say that about most towns in the United Kingdom![]()
I've lived in North Shields before, but the worst town I've expierenced is Stevenage (but there's no way I live there!!!)
South Shields is much better than North Shields, although I do like the Fish Quay and Maggie Bank. Very good pint.
Marshalls at Tynemouth is my favourite, although the Red Hut on Ocean Road in South Shields was a close second. The Harbour Lights pub on the top of Lawe Road is also a very good place for food.
Bloody unfortunate I'm 90 odd miles away from any of these establishments as I type this...
so basically, everywhere is SH*TE ?
The various pedestrian/bike underpasses (known locally as the Underworld) are not somewhere you want to stay for too long. Trust me!
Stevenage looks canny......when you pass through at 125 mph!

aye, the Magnesia Bank is a great pub, much better than The Stanley or The Mariners!

We went to Marshalls the other week, and the fish and chips were lush if not a wee bit expensive

basically, aye!![]()
I have to agree that I much prefer South Shields over its northern brother, and the Red Hut gets my vote for the best fish and chips Ive ever had! All other fish and chip shops I sample are measured against it.Marshalls at Tynemouth is my favourite, although the Red Hut on Ocean Road in South Shields was a close second. Great Yarmouth, where I live, is a dump. It's only advantage is being close to Norwich.
I don't know why all the hate for Milton Keynes, I like MK.

Big fan of the Alum House and the Steamboat when I fancy a tipple or three as well. As you can see, theres plenty to keep me happy in South Shields.
Note that Im over two hundred miles away from the place as I write this! Im going to make a merry afternoon/evening out of a visit to Shields next time that Im back in the north east: So thatll be Easter no doubt; eleven days off work at the cost of just three days of leave!
Haven't been to Wallsend for a while, will have to get back to the Buffs for a few pints.

Obviously those who have put Hull haven't looked far beyond the vast lines of 158s at the station , come on, you're nearly as bad as the mass media who tear the city to shreds without even visiting!
Seriously, I am genuinely interested about where this "stained" architecture is!
)and Hessle on the 350, followed by wanders from the old Ferensway bus station into the awful shopping area over the road.Wasn't much happening there last time either. Think the only thing I remember was watching Metro staff removing a ticket machine ready for the new ones. Probably big news in Wallsend.
The worst place I've ever visited is Holyhead. Couldn't get away fast enough.
I couldnt agree more with you,but for me i spent 8 years trying to get away from the place lol![]()
Yeah Ocean Lounge is opposite Barclays, near the Metro station. Nice relaxed place: No decent ale or cider mind, but the food is good.Where's the Ocean Lounge, is that the one opposite Barclays on the main street from the Metro station? Haven't really explored South Shields for its drinking apart from a few pubs on the sea front. Will have to put that right over Easter. Also want to go to the Jarrow Brewery ones, haven't had a Rivet Catcher on a while.
I'd forgotten all about The MaltingsYou need to visit The Maltings near the town hall- bit of a walk but cracking beer and if you can be bothered, get a bus out to Primrose and try the beer in the Robin Hood too
I'd forgotten all about The MaltingsGreat place. Had a couple of canny sessions in there in the past.
By that logic neither is the map posted as that was a map of the of Great Britain, a part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland but not simply the United Kingdom.
Right, to clarify, N Ireland most definitely is in the UK. No matter what you call it, United Kingdom, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or even just Great Britain, N Ireland is part of it, full stop. Thats why people from N Ireland are officially British, just like all those from England, Scotland and Wales.
(bearing in mind all the sport rivalry!)I really don't think some people from Scotland and Wales would take to kindly to being called British!(bearing in mind all the sport rivalry!)
Sorry, but like it or not, their official Nationality is British. Why is it only possible to get a British passport? Because that is the official nationality of people born here. No matter what country within the UK they are born.
