Is there a 196(s) on the evening Worcester service tonight?
Any idea where this work will be done? The 4 cars are waiting to have door controls fitted in the centre vehicles. Once that happens they will be on the Herefords as well. If one works before fitting the service will not be able to stop at University in the up (towards Birmingham) direction due to the guard not being able to see the full length of the Train due to platform curvature. On all services formed of 4 or 6 cars the guard is supposed to work from the middle, or at least shut the doors from there.

No. Should be Monday afternoon again. Is there a 196(s) on the evening Worcester service tonight?
Will the 196s be on any Hereford services from Monday too? I’ve heard a few rumours circulating.No. Should be Monday afternoon again.
I'd be very surprised if it was that quick! I'd expect the peak diagram to settle down a bit first... but of course it may be true. Will the 196s be on any Hereford services from Monday too? I’ve heard a few rumours circulating.
Well yes, I was surprised as well, hence I’m curious as to whether it is true or not!I'd be very surprised if it was that quick! I'd expect the peak diagram to settle down a bit first... but of course it may be true.
No. The current diagram will be the only one for 2/3 weeks at least. Network Rail still need to do a couple of bits of work past Malvern. Probably/possibly May timetable for Hereford. Will the 196s be on any Hereford services from Monday too? I’ve heard a few rumours circulating.
Alright, thanks.No. The current diagram will be the only one for 2/3 weeks at least. Network Rail still need to do a couple of bits of work past Malvern. Probably/possibly May timetable for Hereford.
What kind of work needs doing? Do you know please? No. The current diagram will be the only one for 2/3 weeks at least. Network Rail still need to do a couple of bits of work past Malvern. Probably/possibly May timetable for Hereford.
Thank you for this information. My friend has just been speaking to someone at Shrub Hill though who seems to think it will be next Saturday for the first full diagram? I presume this information is incorrect but if you could confirm then I would appreciate it.No. The current diagram will be the only one for 2/3 weeks at least. Last i heard 2/3 weeks but things change. I would be surprised if it’s that soon tho. There is a 196 standby turn showing on the drivers roster for sat but that might be an error as there’s no turn showing Fri pm or Mon am. The turn is there to ensure there is a 196 driver available in case of sickness etc. as the normal spare or standby drivers may not have been trained or had refreshers yet.Thank you for this information. Spoke to soon, 196103 (which was 10 minutes late arriving) was held at New Street for almost 20 minutes, as there was an issue with the doors not openingI boarded 196104 today (1540 SHR-BHM 1651), I got on at Smethwick Galton Bridge, and I can confirm, it was a great journey
The more I ride these 196s, the more and more I really like them, still can’t believe these are built by CAF
Can the guard not open the local door?Spoke to soon, 196103 (which was 10 minutes late arriving) was held at New Street for almost 20 minutes, as there was an issue with the doors not opening![]()
The issue is there’s no guard panels aside from in the cabs currently. Can the guard not open the local door?
Oh of course, that’s also preventing 4 cars from using University isn’t it.The issue is there’s no guard panels aside from in the cabs currently.
Precisely.Oh of course, that’s also preventing 4 cars from using University isn’t it.
I'd imagine this service may eventually be a 196 https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C68315/2023-04-28/detailed but aren't the Snow Hill services generally kept operationally separate as regards 170s/ 196s.Are these Worcester workings all via Bromsgrove, or are there/will there be any on the Kidderminster line?
Via Bromsgrove. When all the diagrams are covered there will be a late night working to/from New St non stop via KiddyAre these Worcester workings all via Bromsgrove, or are there/will there be any on the Kidderminster line?
Here’s also the corresponding inbound service for reference, as mentioned by newtownmgr. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C68171/2023-04-24/detailedI'd imagine this service may eventually be a 196 https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C68315/2023-04-28/detailed but aren't the Snow Hill services generally kept operationally separate as regards 170s/ 196s.

Would make sense if that’s the next diagram to switch over, being the last one using 2x170s.Full diagram confirmed on Hereford line for 29th April. Awaiting confirmation on further diagrams on weekdays.

This is a Saturday. I was under the impression that the 0839 HFD BHM and rest of diagram was the 170s on a Saturday?Would make sense if that’s the next diagram to switch over, being the last one using 2x170s.

Ah I was thinking of the weekday workings sorry, I don’t know any of the weekend diagrams. This is a Saturday. I was under the impression that the 0839 HFD BHM and rest of diagram was the 170s on a Saturday?
I’ve seen both the diagram in question and the 0839 as 170s recently, so it is possible I’d say. Presumably both will switch over quite quickly to free up the 170s.
