Yes they are, @newtownmgr has confirmed 3 units currently stabled there.

5Q66 Long Marston to Tyseley LMD today was 196009/010/011. This confirms and means that there are no more 196s at Long Marston. They are either at Tyseley or Worcester for testing/service. 196114 we are assuming is still at the factory in Newport where it is in pieces.

Sorry, think you're misunderstanding. I mean the Hereford Diesel Sidings in Hereford, not the Worcester Hereford Sidings.
These sidings are the ones that they sometimes reverse in when turning around at Hereford.
Makes sense, fleet did say the last units were coming up from Long Marston this week.

I think I saw 012 and 106 at Worcester so that would fall in line with SuperLuke's suggestion. Never seen 003 though.

There's only the reversing siding left there, the others are disconnected.

It’s only a single turn back siding. Hereford is cleared with no restrictions with the possible exception of P4 as far as I’m aware. If cleared it will only accommodate a 2 car anyway.

Thanks for confirming. I would have thought so seeing as the 197s are so similar. Doubt p4 will be used except in emergencies.

Most likely - On Monday I saw a two-carriage 196 working the 16:56 Birmingham New Street to Shrewsbury. To add insult to injury the following 17:26 service was worked by a single two-carriage Class 170.

Yep the 16:56 was 196001 as it’s the only 2 car which was out.
Leamington to Nuneaton is supposed have 196s on it from the May timetable change.

Am I right in thinking that Leamington to Nuneaton is crewed by Coventry Depot using units borrowed from Tyseley?
And Leamington Spa depot. Some units kept at Leamington as well as Tyseley

I am afraid that it entered service a while back, I have multiple sightings of it and it is stated as previously entered service on UK rail log, train logger and TOPS.

It made its passenger debut a while back (it was one of the first) however hasn't actually done many days in service as it has been busied with training and testing.

Yes, this is because a 4 car long train for the Birmingham to Shrewsbury line is required (even though locals to the line like myself keep on suffering 196001 on its own.)

I was in Wrexham over the weekend so I travelled on TfW from Sandwell & Dudley. I had seen a 196 on test but this was the first time I had seen them in service. There was a train in Shrewsbury on both my outward and return journey and also a train heading for Shrewsbury passed at Telford.
Just a side note TfW provided a two car train on Sunday morning for my return journey which was rammed full so they terminated that at Shrewsbury and moved us onto a 4 car train which was not much better as one carriage was locked out of service.
