I'd echo the previous post about information at Glasgow Central. We were there earlier in the day, trying to travel to Birmingham. Very nice people from Virgin at platforms 1/2, but with no information about what was happening. We'd sat in the cafe considering our options via various websites (Mr Branson's being particularly useless). Travel via Edinburgh seemed to be a better idea than the buses to Carlisle on offer at Central.

By the time we'd sorted this out, we just missed the 10:59 to Penzance via Edinburgh (a 5-car set, so probably rather squashed further south).

We were then told by the VT despatch staff that Virgin would be running the 12:00 to B'ham, albeit with a diversion via Kilmarnock.

A few moments later we're told they won't be running this. And you wonder why passengers are unimpressed?

So it was the 11:05 to Edinburgh via Shotts, the 12:30 to Newcastle (a very crowded HST from Aberdeen) and the 14:35 CrossCountry to B'ham.

A long way round, but probably more comfortable and more relaxed than being on a coach to Carlisle for a couple of hours.

well last night sounds a bit mad but despite the large backlog of trains and pax at Car TODAY all were great both station and on train staff. Word is it will be Sunday til the wires return

Well the latest from National Rail this morning is that Virgin Trains are expecting to run a near normal service today although passengers may need to change trains at Carlisle and expect a slight delay while this happens, also buses/coaches will continue to run between Glasgow Central-Carlisle/Preston

Indeed, t'was an excellent way to bash p8 at Carlisle! :D

All redone late Saturday night / Sunday morning, NRE reported it as fully resolved at 0315, as such a normal service ran today.

Really; although not related to the previous OHL disruption, did not overunning engineering works again cause severe disruption for southbound services in the Carlisle area this morning? Exactly 4 weeks after the previous overun caused up to 2 hours late running for the first trains of the day!

aha! Another person who needed Carlisle P8, I deliberately went to Motherwell just to (finally) clear it. An hour late home well worth it for having done it at last. As to any probs this morning I wouldnt know as an urgent appointment with a bottle of whisky last night kept me from anything ambitious this morning. :)
