My first run was in February 1987 - train engine was a rather dull 47 589 banked by 37 135/257. All the more atmospheric as I had the rear coach all to myself fo the entire journey. It was a BSO with the guards area between the passenger saloon and the rest of the train and was off the end of most platforms so the guard was using the other one. Switched the lights off on departure from Temple Meads and was then undisturbed till Carstairs.
