My favourite comedians are:

Frankie Boyle, he's not Susan Boyles husband thank god. I would show a youtube clip but I think it might be a bit rude for the forums.

My favourite stand-up is Eddie Izzard, absolutely wonderful live. For writing I'm a huge fan of Chris Morris and Armando Ianucci. Favourite comedy series are Monty Python and Blackadder. Also love Laurel and Hardy films and the Marx brothers films are simply wonderful

Whilst I respect your opinion I've really tried to like Tim Vine. The trouble is, although I love a good pun, I feel it really has to fit a true situation to be genuinely amusing.

I have to agree, so underrated especially since people mistake his jokes for Tommy Coopers

Others in my favourites list tend to be Dara O'Brain and Lee Evans, although bear in mind that I catch most of my comedy on Dave - So my known "pool" of comedians might be a little restricted.

Dara O'Briain is excellent. Especially when he does stand-up back home in Ireland.
Tommy Tiernan is very good too.
