Which newspaper do you read?

It's good to see the 'i' is gaining popularity, in an age where newspapers are apparently dying out, the i is becoming more popular mind you probably because it's 20p. I work in WHSmiths and before we only used to get 2 copies of the i, but now we get given 8 or 9!

I'm suprised you admit to working for WHS - unless you work in a High Street rather than Rail/Air outlet.

The Independent or the Daily Telegraph; the latter has the best crossword by far (at least, in my opinion!).

And Private Eye of course.

I tend to read The Guardian, when I buy a newspaper at all. It also offers - in my opinion - the best online experience of any of the major papers (its crosswords section is particularly good ).

Haven't bought a daily paper for over ten years now...don't see the point of reading the news from yesterday...especially when it can be easily found on the day it happens. I've even stopped buying the local weekly paper; though that is more because the quality of news coverage declined whilst the price increased considerably.

The weekday 'I' price increased to 30p last Monday. Excellent impartial journalism.

The only paper that I absolutely refuse to even open is the Daily Hate Mail, and would only use the Daily Star to line the hamster cage with.

Have had a subscription to Private Eye since 1980.

All Newspaper circulations have taken a pounding in the last few years , hence the cover price above inflation increases particularly at the quality end of the market.

Indeed. I don't take the Guardian myself, but I do find the decline in circulation and inflation busting increases in the cover price of all serious newspapers alarming and possibly a vicious spiral as more would be readers are put off.

I blame free content on the internet. The fact is that if you want news, journalists need to earn a crust.

I wasn't aware that readership correlated with quality.

Or would you be the first to say that the Sun is the best newspaper in the country?

I don't think it will disappear for a while as GMG binned over half a billion in disposing of it's 51% stake in The Autotrader Group a few weeks ago....

Leaving it with assets of over 300 Milllion Pounds to secure the future of The Guardian and The Observer for the next thirty years.

They've got 6 headlines:

The Royal Family (usually featuring Diana and how much they love her).
Madeleine McCann (usually featuring the latest paper-thin evidence).
The EU (usually featuring immigration and how much they hate it).
XYZ causes cancer (usually the same as whatever miracle cure they loved last week).
MIRACLE CURE! (usually the same as whatever caused cancer last week).
Terrible Weather on the Way (about the only sensible stuff they ever publish, and yet they still manage to make it doom and gloom).

I really don't think they've ever had anything else, if I'm honest.

Actually not, as they regularly feature made up nonsense from long-range weather "forecasters" Vantage Weather Services.

Headlines such as "Six inches of snow to hit Britain next week as Arctic blast sends temperatures plummeting" from 16 November 2013, followed up by "100 DAYS OF HEAVY SNOW: Britain now facing worst winter in SIXTY YEARS warn forecasters" from 17 Nov 2013.
