Nando's, legendary. Still place for KFC though, I can't run into Nando's on a 7 minute turnaround and run out with armfuls of chicken.

Come to think of it, I can't do that at Picc KFC either. Always prohibitive queues every time I've been there.

On Facebook, many of the traincrew (now suicidal at the loss of KFC) at Piccadilly were discussing this a few weeks ago. I hear there was fat running through the floor into the roof of the Thorntons shop some months ago. There is also mention of a Maccy D's on the way which will probably lead to even more broken (overladen) lifts up to the mess room. Interestingly, one Barrow link driver managed to break the new reclining sofa in the messroom some time ago

Yummm. KFC flavour luxury fudge :(

I don't get that? First NR say they want to go upmarket then they say they're going to let McD's in?

New designs of McDonalds branches are very contemporary and project a very nice approach. A number of Roadchef services have McDonalds installed and they blend in very well to the modern atmosphere.

Who even has time for a Nando's while waiting for a train? Unless they're aiming to bring in passing trade, but then Piccadilly will end up overcrowded.

Normal Nando's allow you to phone ahead with a takeaway order and pick it up 15 minutes or so later. I'm not sure if that's very well advertised, but I know it from having been a mystery shopper there a couple of times...

I thought Nandos put the "chic" in "chicken" :)

Also Maccy D's - I thought they avoided stations because they prefer a standard price for their burgers and won't hike the price to cover the additional rent for station outlets like Burger Queen do?

I wonder if Nandos and McD will accept "Bite" cards...

You're not far off, the one at Piccadilly is the only KFC I've ever been to that RAN OUT of chicken

My local KFC (though not recently...they do seem to be improving slightly ) has, on 2 separate occasions previously, run out of salad and run out of chicken!!!

I don't think Mcdonalds's will have any trouble paying the rent, have you seen the size of some Northern Rail staff

The Mcdonalds at Victoria has just been re-furbished, looks better than before but too bad they sell barely warm burgers that always fail to satisfy. If they opened a Mcdonalds at Piccadilly it would surely have to be in a huge area to accomodate the massive amount of customers.

I must admit I like Nando's, although I was disappointed to see KFC had disappeared when I was at Piccadilly yesterday! KFC certainly served a purpose and I much prefer it over Burger King or McDonald's.

I do think there is a place for both on a station - the Nando's at Euston always seems very busy.

If Nando's can bring in one of there Express stores I believe it could become very succesful.

KFC at Salford Regent Rd only got 2 on the council food hygiene standard rating.

(Even so, I think the inspector may have died during the visit Antonio's on the approach at Piccadilly)

I thought from the original title of this thread that it should be posted in the "Station Codes" part of the quiz section.

As far "Nandos Express" isn't that something run by Indian Railways?

I must get out more.

I'd be very happy for Southern 11 to open up a banch there. Fast service, good food and decent prices. As far as I'm aware they still only have the one store - it's in the foodcourt at the Arndale centre.
