Personally I'd rather Network Rail kick all branches of SSP off site and get in independant traders, and TRG (The Restaurant Group, anyone who's been to Manchester Airport and seen Joe's Kitchen will know what I mean) to run the posher outlets. I just don't like SSP's operation at all, and dislike Costa Coffee, (and most franchised coffee outlets tbh). Why can't we have an M&S Food Hall, Joe's Kitchen, etc. Rather than the Carbon Copy cheap-o franchised operations of SSP for once?

Oh crap I'm totally wrong, Nando's express does not exist but some of their restuarants do have a faster take out service I believe

I thought Piccadilly had an M&S food hall?

They have an M&S Simply Food, where the goods are retailed, the food hall is probably better termed as M&S Café.

I'm not an expert on M&S by the way... If anyone on here does meet me they'll realize this from one look that I'm not M&S's biggest fan, but the do have nice quality food.

I'd be very happy for Southern 11 to open up a banch there. Fast service, good food and decent prices. As far as I'm aware they still only have the one store - it's in the foodcourt at the Arndale centre.

Nom. That'll do nicely :D

Well all I can say is they hurry up with the replacement for KFC! Can't stand Burger Queen and was put off Sushi by the fact it has rice in it! (don't ask).

You want an M&S Simply Food, but not SSP? :| That's a bit difficult considering that SSP operate the M&S branches in railway stations (and airports)!

"SSP Foodlab". Sounds sinister, like some dodgy experiments are going on to make chickens have several legs and breasts each.

Shame about the loss of the KFC there, I used to go up for something to eat and keep an eye on the concourse to see if anything required pulled in, although admittedly the place was always in a state and was infested with pigeons.

If they're planning to put a Nando's in I hope they have plenty of seats, I've always wanted to try it but the one in Meadowhall is always completely full whenever I go past it.

Yes, but the SSP operation of the M&S Franchise is kept at a very short arms length from M&S themselves, as apposed to the other franchises that don't seem to give a damn.

Don't know if anyone has noticed but there are posters on the walls of the construction site where KFC used to be. The posters say 'Come and enjoy a drink in our new bar, coming soon' or something similar.
If it's a new bar they are building, I don't think it would be the best idea. There's enough drunks lurking around Piccadilly as it is.

I would not think that any new bar would allow any of these local "drunks" to partake of the facilities that would be offered. Network Rail must be aware of who it will be to operate these new premises and there will also be the need for licensed premised to register with the relevant authorities.

They have Nando's Express now I believe.

And I suppose they will be bidding for the TransPennine franchise when it's up for renewal. Let's face it, 'Nando's Express' is no more ridiculous a name for a TOC than 'Virgin' or 'Northern Spirit' or some of the equally ridiclous things we've seen in the past.

I think the current bar there is also closed for refurb iirc, so maybe it's just advertising the re opening of that.

The plan is to have a bar where the KFC used to be. Shouldn't appeal to drunks anymore than the existing Balcony Bar.

The former Sports Bar will then be divided into three restaurant units. One will be Carluccio's (confirmed), One is under offer (rumoured to be Nandos), Other is still to let but it will be a restaurant rather than a fast food or coffee shop. Also confirmed is Eds Easy Diner which will be an American style diner. They already have branches in London and Cardiff. They will be opening in the vacant unit next to M&S.

KFC is gone for good.

Well to be fair, they'd probably just operate as a 'Chicken-up' as opposed to First Transpennine Distress which has made a complete and total C**k-up of the franchise so far.

I never understand why so many people rate Nandos so highly. When I went I got (literally) mouldy pitta bread and the chicken just tasted of salt.
