Last night, I awaited the ATW service from Newton-le-Willows to Earlestown. The journey was only 3 minutes long but the delay crept upto 9 minutes.

Have you ever had something similar happen to you?

** I did get a chance to see the overnight construction workers remove the tunneling screw which is going to transform Newton-le-Willows station into a grand Interchange with a subway at car park level and lifts and steps upto platform, emphasising the South-side of the station as the business end of things as opposed to the current station approach from the North.

Been on a TPE from Newcastle to York that managed to lose 70 minutes on its 67 minute scheduled journey, most of which by standing at Durham and the rest by getting looped north of York due to a pretty nasty signal failure.

I'm coming close to it now, my 25 minute journey from Nottingham to Leicester is now taking 50 minutes because of a broken rail (I'm having to get the Ivanhoe stopper)

Bath to Trowbridge - Delay frequently more than 18 or 22 minutes. Most recent example: 2 days ago.

December 2015.

Lancaster-Wigan, normally just over 30 minutes IIRC.

BUT:

Think that'll take some beating! For the record, I was in First being kept very well fed and watered-and recieved one of Virgin's fob off vouchers-at approximately 3x the cost of my ticket!

Back in summer 2014 I had to wait for an hour and a half at Brockenhurst for a train to Ashurst, which is a 10 minute journey... :( And at the time I had no wallet and my phone was dead.

I feel that pales in significance to the post above me however!

I was once some years ago on the 2000 weeknight departure from London Kings Cross making for Durham. We were due into Durham at 2240 but arrived at 0440: so 6 hours delay on a 2hrs 40mins journey.

I found a complaint from a friend on twitter - train more than 15 minutes late on Woking to Farnborough.

Currently on the delayed 0447 from Leighton Buzzard to Euston and we made it as far as Tring awaiting replacement buses. So it's gonna be at least 3 hours to do a 45 mins journey.

I am about equal with that, I will vary the question a little. If you were waiting for that train could you have got a different train?

I have had a 3hr delay on a 15 minutes journey - sprending 3h15 mins on a 153. Just unlucky to be the first train impacted. What was even more frustrating was I was less than 1 mile from my destination so could have walked the last mile.

Nope. It was the next available service-and 'only' about 40 late when I boarded IIRC!
