An old Lima (right royal) class 47 which is now DCC TSX sound equipped (though a 31 will have to suffice until Hornby pull there finger out). New etches and flush glazing and a start made on the buffer detail, coupling added. Runs superbly now it's serviced within an inch of its life.

Already had the rot! Mount has been removed and the motor secured to the chassis. Bit grindy at slow speeds, but is fine once it get going.

Ah, sorry to hear that - it's a real pain and seems to affect all this batch - glad you have it working though, and looks very smart with those EFEs!

Of course. It's only a simple twin track 'U' shape, albeit with a very generous running length. No good for any shunting or anything like that, but great for letting them all stretch their legs a bit (which was the whole idea of building it, the limited scenery and buildings is mostly what I already had in my collection from years ago)

Just recieved these in the post today from eBay, 4 Panorama coaches of the SBB. Must admit i'm very impressed with the details and they are a nice reminder of the trips I took on them.

Don't suppose anynone knows much about the grey coach, when did SBB make the switch to white and red? The new livery looks much cleaner in my opinion

Picked these up while at Sheringham for the recent 40s weekend. Hornby 121 as GW150 liveried 55020, and preserved GWR 1501, nice to have two models of stuff that I've ridden on or behind.

Picked up another piece of Japanese rolling stock today. This time the Tomix KiHa 58 in the rather remarkable 'Isaribi' or 'fishing fire' livery that was worn for a short time in the early 2000s - the interiors were even altered, with one carriage receiving full on lighting designed to mimic an underwater night scene and a souvenir shop by the driving compartment. You can see pictures here, if you're interested.

The nautical theme of the livery fits perfectly with the seaside town layout I will eventually build one day.

Very nice, there is something special about owning stock you've 'bashed', so to speak. Plus you can't beat a good bubblecar!

I don't have too much DCC incompatible stock - except for some early Bachmann Farish and Union Mills items - for me it is just the fiddliness and cost of the DCC equipment.

My plan is to use it on one of my other class 47 chassis’ at exhibitions when we’re running steam and Hydraulics and then swap it back for the 1980s era. Hopefully a way of getting an extra loco out of the fleet basically!

Preowned Bachmann class 25 (2003 moulding) from Hattons for £60. Cheap because the snowploughs were absent however no issue it's being renumbered into a non-snowplough 25/3.

Nice. I really want an N gauge 25 but the Farish model is looking a bit dated now and they’re quite difficult to get hold of now anyway. It’s a big gap in the market.

Hear hear! I will probably be modelling some brighton stock and getting a friend to 3D print it, while we lack RTR carriages in N.

Two items arrived today which were pre-ordered a few months ago. My bank account is not looking so healthy!

Bought to mix up my VT rake (with new VT Mk2s also on pre-order), which fits in my 2002-2012 era.


(In the background, magnetic couplings on the Farish Mk3 sleepers was a resounding failure - derailments even on radius 4 due to the buffers).

That is a bargain. I think EWS livery on a 47 is something of ab under-appreciated one.

I've also got a 1501 - first one had faulty paintwork and wobbled at bit at slow speed. Rapido instead of requiring it be exchanged by the retailer do their own return service sending out post paid return labels. Posted it on a Wednesday lunchtime and Saturady morning postie arrived with the replacement.
