My son has been on eBay again, he purchased a Bachmann 66718 body only for around £50, he tells me the complete model is difficult to find.
Then he bought another more common Bachmann GBRf low emission class 66 loco, which went into works for a body swap!
I found the four screws obscured by the bogies on this particular Bachmann difficult to remove, but they eventually gave way.
The roof grille was missing on 66718, so I used a sharp scalpel to remove the one on the other body. This is simply glued on and relatively easy to remove. I glued it in place on the 66718 body.
The light fittings and cab front in between on the chassis were repainted black from yellow to match the real thing.
Only then did I notice a missing lamp bracket, so had to make a new one which is shown in the attached photo.
It was boxed, even that was ripped and needed glued!
Not bad for a couple of mornings graft.
Edit- got a bit brighter here during the storm so lighter photos added.
