It seems that DBS will have finished their disposal programme by the end of the year if the current rate of movements is anything to go by.
Considering how lean the network and the fleets now are I was wondering what might be next for the cutters torches.
For example is Shoeburyness now empty and what of the other MOD sites - are they still full and desptaching stock for cutting. Also what previously preserved locos/stock are actually now facing a bleak future.
Every time I have visited the UK and travelled on the network I have always been amazed at how empty the yards and sidings are compred to the 80's when there was stock a plenty. Are there any little enclaves of abandoned stock lying around out there or in todays neat world are they despatched in next to no time rather than clutter up the system.
If the stock levels are so much lower are there any plans to get rid of some of the major yards - I know Tinsley has gone as did Whitemoor and also what about the old EWS depots of which many are now closed?
