What Pets do you have?

As I couldn't find another thread on this subject, I have decided to create a 'What Pets do you have' thread. Hopefully this is in the right place and hopefully if all goes well, should be a pretty harmless thread.


Please only post if you are comfortable to! If you want to post images Im sure you can so we can all see the super cute pets. It doesn't matter how exotic or weird they are, I am sure others probably have similar pets!



I will start:


I have one 6 Year old Retired Greyhound called Bessie and I did have a Bearded Dragon (Type of lizard) named Timmy who unfortunately passed away on the 11th of September.

I do hope you meet his every need! I had cats almost all of my life up to a few years ago, including one who looked very like George, and I so miss having one now.

This is Cooper (bigger, cream coat & 12 years old) & Alfie (smaller with a black/slivery-grey coat & 9 years old; will turn 10 in December), my two Labradoodles.

This is Chieftain, he/she is a 2 and a bit year old Hermann's Tortoise and is a big fan of fruit, mallow flowers and not getting out of bed.

I do hope you meet his every need! I had cats almost all of my life up to a few years ago, including one who looked very like George, and I so miss having one now.

I think we seem to. A target for claws and teeth, door concierge and all round hooman servant.

My pets are a family of House Sparrows that live in my garden hedge. There are about 20 to 30 at the moment and feeding them costs at least as much as any domestic pet.

We used to have a tortoise named Flipper

I don't have a pet but I have a few human friends that I have well trained to feed me and walk me.

We used to have a collie dog when I was young. Prior to that, a stray cat had "adopted" us and the neighbours as someone to feed it.
Decided it was not fair to a dog to leave it alone indoors when I was at work all day.

Whilst I don't hate cats, I often chase neighbours' cats out of the garden because they lurk under bushes stalking the local (rather small) bird population.

I haven't any pictures to hand but we have 2 cats, a tortoiseshell called Maisie and a tabby called Millie. Maisie is about 15 and Millie about 14. We also had a hamster called Nibbles who died earlier this year

4 Guinea pigs in a two large hutches joined together. One side insulated and heated while the other side is more open.

A 240l tropical community tank with countless small fish, guppies, tetras and bristle nose plecks the most common.

Another identical tank at the other side of the room mostly stocked with pea puffer fish.

And a 500l aquarium/above ground pond with Orandas and a few Goldfish.

Our nine year old German Shepherd was overcome with mobility issues earlier this year. We are tempted to get another dog but also we're having a baby imminently so don't want to overstretch ourselves.

There is also a hedgehog whose taken up residence at the bottom of the garden if that counts.

We have two cats - Sushi and Mochi. They are sisters and now about 7 months old (the picture is from about a month ago, waiting for me to get back from work)

They spend plenty time sleeping but also have a troublesome streak - their current favourite trick is to grab a pouch of food/pack of treats and claw the hell out of them to get to what’s inside!

Yes I have one too!

Greyhounds are such great dogs to keep even with children as they are so calm and very lazy!!

Thank goodness, a wholesome thread where nobody is arguing! It’s quite relaxing reading all these. I had two twin sister cats, Jess and Merson, whom I got when they were about two. They were lovely but thick, very much like their previous owner. They died within three months of each other about seven years ago, aged 17. Live in a flat now, so no more pets.

Currently looking after two cats for a couple of months, going to miss them when they go home, even if one is currently trying to break into the treat drawer!

There’s also a cat who lives a couple of doors down but likes to think the house is hers. We made her a little box in the garden with a cushion in to keep her cosy and dry now that she can’t come in with the other two around.
