It’s the apricot ones that do it for me! Over-used phrase in Italian bakeries: “c’è qualcosa con albicocca?” - anything with apricot? There always is.

Getting my house insurance renewed for about a third of the price after my previous insurer upped the cost by 25% !

A long-lost episode of The Morecambe and Wise Show, first broadcast on the BBC on 16 September 1968, has been recovered and will be shown on BBC Four and BBC iPlayer on Thursday 14 May, to coincide when Eric Morecambe would have turned 100. BBC Four will also show The Perfect Morecambe and Wise to mark this moment.
The episode, which was thought to be lost forever, was discovered by Film Is Fabulous! - a charitable trust run by film collectors and television enthusiasts. It was found in the estate of a former television industry professional and has now been returned to the BBC.
This ‘lost’ programme is the third episode from Morecambe and Wise’s first series after returning to the BBC, following a period working with commercial television.
The episode features sketches written by Sid Green and Dick Hills. Ann Hamilton appears as Pauline in a sketch set in a nudist colony, while Jenny Lee-Wright plays Eric’s niece, a balloon dancer. It also includes a musical performance from The Paper Dolls, who enjoyed hits in the 1960s.

I had the same experience recently with both house insurance and pet insurance policies (and the pet policy came with a £50 Amazon gift card). I also negotiated our broadband down from a ~10% rise to the same price, but double the speed to just under 1Gbps.
It annoys me that companies try and screw people over at renewal so badly, but it does feel good when you can get your costs down!

Only about 5 weeks behind time here as I have only just downloaded the photos. Seeing Stagecoach Optare Solo 47001 (new in October 2001) in service in Kendal was interesting, but the additional fleetnumber on the rear of the bus really made me smile (something I have not done much of recently). I wonder how many of Kendal's regular bus users know why the fleetnumber D1521 is being carried?

Just booked a break in Swanage this weekend for a bargain price, will visit diesel gala and hopefully beach, get some sea air! Do some activities to keep the misses happy to!

Maybe an obscure "made me happy" but...
Since mid-2025 I wanted to nurture forum interest in AI as a creative medium for the convincing and atmospheric side of railway imagery; a "digital art / modelling", with a bit of Rule 1 and a bit of imagination. Sadly, it didn't "gel" on this forum.
21 days ago, I started a thread on a well-known, established, modelling-focussed rail forum. It's had more than 4,000 hits, 150+ posts, positive input from those who've posted images and comments on it so far.
A TT120 model layout thread-owner used my thread as their inspiration to use an AI capability so they could envision how the layout might look once finished.
That's the real type of engagement I sought AI to bring to the railway hobby. Feel free to stop by there - here's the link:

Growing up I often heard a song on the radio, primarily on a Sunday lunchtime request show on Radio Devon with Tony Beard. The Monty Python team also used this music for some animated scenes and I could never find out what this music was despite searching the web.

It's wonderful you solved that mystery. In the early days of BBC 2 colour they showed test transmissions in the afternoon which I watched after getting home from school. My favourite was "Ride the White Horses" about a round-Britain powerboat race. There is a three part video of it on YouTube (

Really happy today to have helped my heavily pregnant daughter to get to her anti-natal appointment after she discovered her car had a puncture. In the past I haven't been a particularly good parent due to mental health issues.
On a side note, have you noticed that car tyres always go flat at the bottom, never the top? (with apologies for my rather odd sense of humour!)

Any nightingales, Bicester is within their range. I heard a very vocal blackcap this morning, whose song is as good a substitute as you can get for a nightingale‘s, here in the east midlands!

Technically yesterday, but after six years, I sat my last OU exam and finished my studying! Just have to wait a few weeks for the results now, but I think I've done fairly well overall. It's been weirdly nice to not have any studying or revision to do today, and I can finally do more odd bits around the house, which is nice.

Nah, I'm just enjoying having more time to myself. Getting on top of cleaning my house is an important one, as I've kinda neglected that over the past few months!
