If you've got 175 and 180s on there, should it not also include 220/221/222s as well?

I've voted 185, but I only really mean refurbished units!

Agree with those that say some of the groupings are awkward: whilst putting 158s and 159s together isn't an issue; and things like distinctions between different interiors within classes is the discussion that the poll is supposed to prompt... there's a world of difference between a 153 and a 156!

It has to be the Class 159, so very comfortable, fast enough, great capacity, looks great in SWT too. Shame about SWR, which is very poor lol.

I think the categories could be broken up a bit better though, 168s and 172s are very different, 142s and 143/144s are different, 153/155s and 156s are different.

Voted Pacer, partly because nobody else has and partly because they're really not all that bad. Better than the road-going busses they were designed to compete with at least, although obviously (like those road-going busses) unsuitable for long distances. Great fun to go belting along the Hope Valley in a 142!

I would have voted 168 if it weren't lumped in with the 17xs...

Definitely the 185s. Go like the clappers, sound amazing from the outside, yet are super quiet on the inside. I actually like the desiro seats (don't know what they're called), as albeit a bit hard, they have vary good lumbar and lateral support. Refurbishment only made them better by the looks of it, although I haven't been on a refurbished one yet.

I agree 153, 155 and 156 need to be separated, the latter is beyond comparison to their Leyland cousins

There are only 10 options max. with the new polls, unfortunately.

My top three favourites from this list:

1. Class 180
2. Class 170
3. Class 158/159

All very comfortable units.

Gave the 175 a vote, as was impressed on the times I've used them (albeit a few years ago)

Not sure I agree with the 158 love, to me they're noisier than the newer trains and seem short of legroom

Class 253 and 254 are now the class 43 which is a LOCOMOTIVE
and never was a DMU either, in that they couldn't/can't operate in Multiple, unlike most locos in fact. I don't understand why transmission type has sneaked in to this when the only criteria are power source (Diesel) and ability to couple up and be controlled from the front cab (Multiple.)
Is the Parry thing a multiple unit? I can't see any reference to them running coupled...

EMT or Northern Class 158s are easily the best of their respective fleets, but the refurbished 185s are definitely a contender in my opinion now - much improvement on their part.

The faithful 142.

Lasted much much longer than ever expected, and perform admirably despite the hammer they take.

Also very easy to drive, and a great train to learn how to drive by feel alone, no fancy electronics to stop wheel slide, no wsp, just man and machine performing miracles on a daily basis.

Disappointing that Voyagers weren't included. DEMUs they may be but they are still DMUs.
