Bus stop thing? by Manchester_77, on Flickr
So this bus stop in Sharston (Manchester) has this thing in it. (I've circled it in red.) Does anyone know what it is its been puzzling me for weeks??
Casing for an unused light fitting?
It does look like an unused or broken light fitting to me. Some of the older shelters in Lincoln have these that haven't worked for years.
Here in Nottingham the PID's are usually hung from an arm fitted to the Bus Stop sign.
The only West Bridgford one I recall is in the end wall of the shelter.
Although there used to be some old unused ones at West Bridgford bus stops inside the shelter, similar to this. Thats what made me think it was an unused PID as it reminded me of them
It is a PID system - theres an identical one at my local stop in Woodhouse Park, which worked for about 2 weeks, the started showing only the time and a load of gobbledegook for a few weeks, then died a complete death.
Get it reported then? Can't speak for Nottingham City (?) Council, but around here things like that will be fixed within days
