the problem began with those lazy upper-class types deciding that they had time in the afternoon to have "afternoon tea", which would usually include some kind of snack or biscuit with the tea.
Then, the great unwashed decided to copy the "tea" part of the name for their (late) afternoon meal.
i dont know why they started calling lunch "dinner", but Im guessing somebody heard that (evening) "dinner" meant the main meal of the day, and thus they adopted it for substantial midday meal.

far worse than all this is the appalling americanism of "brunch" for a meal midway between breakfast and lunch. although it was almost saved by Homer Simpson declaring that he had invented a new meal between breakfast and brunch.

Afternoon tea is personal favourite of mine, and I even had one earlier this afternoon! A nice sandwich, some scones with clotted cream & jam, and some tea.

For most people I know there is nothing "main" about the food eaten around midday; for me it's normally a salad, sandwich or toastie.

If lunch is at midday, why do you have dinner ladies at school? ;)

its a term made up by working class parents.
Officially, there is no such thing as a "dinner lady". They are "School Meal Supervisory Assistants". true.

Hmmmmm.

I usually have a snack at Lunchtime, then something substantial at about 5pm (usually a ready meal if at work).....

So where is my breakfast?

Never understood this lark of skipping breakfast - it's one of the nicest meals of the day, so much so that I often find myself having breakfast for dinner!

Reckless drivers who seem to think that only they should be on the roads and they take priority over everything else.

1. Cycling along a cycle lane on a main road just half way across a junction where a minor road joins, some idiot decides to try and cut in front of me.
This happened about 3pm to 3.30pm.

2. Halfway round a junction and some taxi driver thought he couldn't wait and so cut straight in front of me nearly knocking me off my bike - this happened at 5.30am on a SUNDAY morning.

3. Drivers who think that traffic calming measures mean you can overtake in the other direction regardless of what other traffic is about.

4. Some idiot tried to overtake me on a blind curve, of course he nearly hit a car heading in the opposite direction head on!

5. Today took the biscuit though, being careful as the residents in one street park all their cars on the road even though off road parking is available so being mindful of this, I took extra care only for some impatient t*** to honk his horn for no reason and then started being abusive.

I wasn't being slow on purpose, nor was I speeding, just taking extra care especially when you can't see people until they step out between the vehicles at the last possible minute.

Just because they were impatient to overtake!

Of course, I'm tempted next time to drive a bulldozer and just ram the buggers! <D

Biting my tongue irritates me the most, when I drive, I like chew on chewy mints, and I much them them like cows munch on grass, and sometimes, like I did the other day much really hard on the side of my tongue, in which I nearly bit off a chunk of it! This happened to me on a busy freeway and all I could do was scream in the car while preventing a mass pile up! When I got home I examined it in the mirror and took a swish of strong mouth wash which brought on another does of screaming! lol.

I only eat breakfast if there's nothing to worry about that day... if there's even the slightest aprehension, I can't eat.

I usually have Breakfast at around 5pm, Dinner at 6.30pm and Supper at 10pm.

I bet the cornflakes and dinner does not go together well judging there consumed 1 Hour and 30 Mins apart!

No, cornflakes are generally served for supper ONLY. This is due to their inadequacy as a breakfast material.

Breakfast can be anything from a sandwich, to beans on toast, to the full works.

Today, I am annoyed by having a cold.

But what annoys me more is people who seem to think that "a common cold" is caused by "being cold", and who seem to think that if only I were to put on 97 layers of thick clothing, then my cold would be magically cured. Whereas in reality, that would only end up making me sweat, and have my forehead dripping as well as my nose!

Maybe we need to think of another name for the common cold, to avoid this apparent confusion.

They force the "upgrade" to the current one today, meaning I can no longer use the one I really liked and had set up exactly as I wanted it. Instead, have to use this new sh*tty version that I already hate.

I've just been forced to update too and the new one doesn't even have the decency to work properly.

yeah my MSN won`t even install, it does so much then rolls back and I get errors and reasons why its failed grrr :@
And when I click help with this error I get this tripe:
Cancel installations or uninstall products
If you click Cancel while installing multiple Windows Live programs for the first time, the cancelled installation stops the programs from being installed. If Windows Live programs are already installed on your computer, and you click Cancel while installing new versions of these programs, the previous installations of the programs will be restored.

To uninstall a Windows Live program:

In Windows XP, click Start, and then click Run.

–or–

In Windows Vista, click Start, and then click in the Start Search box.

Type appwiz.cpl, and then press ENTER.
Click Windows Live Essentials, and then click Remove or Uninstall/Change. If you're prompted, click Continue.
Select Uninstall, and then click Continue.
Select the check boxes for the Windows Live programs that you want to uninstall, and then click Uninstall.
Follow the on-screen instructions.

No I dont want to cancell installations I want to just install messenger and carry on talking to people!

I work in a supermarket. I have to listen to that constantly. Even in our minute silence today, she went on and on and on...

"Please place the item in the bagging area"
<you do>
"Unexpected item in bagging area. Please remove this item before continuing."
<you do>
"Please place the item in the bagging area"

And round and round it goes.

Leona Lewis and JLS annoy me. Nothing personal, but anything which Simon Cowell can claim as a success story means the X-Factor shall continue :(
