People who use the phrases 'My Lordz' or 'Hellfire!'
I must admit that I use both expressions every so often, but I always do so in a humerous or sarcastic context. It's a good phrase for messing about with, but I couldn't call it and be serious at the same time!
Morris dancing. So cringeworthy yet they claim it's traditional, in fact it isn't traditional or representative of anything and is frankly bizarre.
Actually, Morris Dancing is based on Pagan tradition, and has been practised for (I believe) at least the last 3,350 years or so.
The basic idea behind the Morris dance is to drive away Daemons and other unsavoury spirits from a village, settlement, or place of gathering. The function of the bells is fairly obvious in that context, whereas the dance itself is intended to allow the dancer to safely evade the Spirit in question whilst still attempting to drive it away.
Of course, in todays World the Morris dancer succeeds more in driving the
townsfolk away from the town rather than the evil Spirits they may be targeting...But I do sometimes wonder if Morris Dancers could be used to banish Chavs from town centres and other public places...
