Bustimes.org is showing that there is no service on 30 September 2024, which is a public holiday. I am not aware of what they usually run then though.

It's awfy small, but there has been a fair bit spent on it, including a brand new spray booth and improved maintenance equipment.

A bus company is adding hundreds of extra journeys to its Glasgow routes.


West Coast Motors is set to improve the frequencies on its services 15 and 17 with a 'whopping increase of over 250 additional journeys'.

The travel company's 15 service runs from Glasgow to Milngavie via Anniesland, while its service 17 runs from Glasgow to Duntocher via Maryhill

The improvements will be introduced from Monday, September 30. The firm says the service boost is part of the bus operator's 'ongoing commitment' to providing 'reliable, friendly, and frequent travel options'.

The improvements include:

Service 15: 154 extra journeys, later evening trips, a ramped-up Saturday service, and a brand-new Sunday service.
Service 17: 98 extra journeys, a streamlined timetable with more evening options, and buses every 30 minutes instead of hourly.

Richy Graham, operations manager, said: "We can’t wait to see the positive impact the changes will have on our customers and the community.

"The improved frequency of services 15 and 17 will not only provide more options but will also promote sustainable travel in our city.

“We’re thrilled to offer these benefits to our customers who rely on our services.

"Our commitment to enhancing customer experience is stronger than ever, and we’re eager to hear feedback to keep improving."

Councillor Duncan Cumming, Independent Councillor for Bearsden North added: “I was absolutely delighted to receive the news that West Coast Motors has taken the commercial decision to significantly enhance their already very popular and successful bus services 15 and 17.

"Both services are extremely well used by local people and these timetable enhancements will open up a whole new range of possibilities.


"These services provide excellent routes and timetables.

"At a time when we are all being encouraged to use public transport more to help the environment by reducing emissions, this news couldn't come at a better time.

"Additionally, with everyone needing to be mindful of daily expenses, bus travel offers great value for money.

The Panoramas are back and forth to Volvo constantly at the moment iirc.

engine wise yes. i believe the 900 ones are specced differently, same with the Citylink examples (eg the diverted Oxford batch had tables upstairs)

Irizars are more in line with fleet standardisation for WCM Group than Volvo coaches.

That's a very long route time wise - from memory about 2 hours and I'm guessing roughly 55 miles or so.
Does it need to visit the depot to recharge after Gala-Edinburgh-Gala?

They have a range of well over 350 miles, according to ADL (https://www.alexander-dennis.com/buses-coaches/enviro400ev/), so it should be capable of a day's work depending on how long the duty cycle is.

Be interesting to see if that is actually achievable as on the Lothian thread the BZLs are coming up short due to cold weather (heaters draining batteries) and The Mound taking a lot out the battery.

I can see that winter mileage range is going to be a problem on rural inter urban routes where buses easily manage 300+ miles in a day.

What is the normal daily mileage for X62 buses - must easily be 3 round trips = 330 miles or more.

Also that is getting quite close to the range limit. Operators tend to like a bit of Lee-way with diversions and stuff.

Surely the X62 is an ideal candidate for pantograph charging EVs? It has generous layovers at both Galashiels and Edinbugh Bus Station which I'd assume would allow 3 round trips a lot more comfortably.
