Just seen Trent Barton putting extra buses on for goose fair how they doing that using notts derby and littles for dupe runs as will be a first in years if a wellglade company to use a double decker on a threes route

I think some of the ct4n fleet was sold through John Pye auctions recently. Versa 1002 (NK09 FVL) is with Harpurs, Derby.
It will be interesting to see if the Solos get used or they are just for spares.
95 (RE63 EOK) is the fourth Streetlite to join the notts and derby fleet, all ex Newbury via buslink.
Pink berry liveried E400 1422 (SN61 BAO) is the latest (and final?) ex reading bus to enter service at notts and derby.

I could see the ex-CT4N solos replace some of the, arguably worse, Notts+Derby solos currently in use or they could be cannibalised for parts (specifically the engine and transmission) for the ex-sixes versas as I believe those specific 3 vehicles all feature the 6.7 Cummins engine

If they don't make a profit, they won't survive. Any company has to be agile, open to new opportunities before a competitor gets in first.

I spotted a Notts + Derbys bus in Chesterfield today on bustimes, on the 'DDRT' service.
Would it be fair to assume they've got the contract for the local on-demand service? I've not seen anything mentioned elsewhere.

They certainly have. Minibuses used short term are 1017/1018.....I understand new vehicles are on order.
At this rate it'll be worth them setting up an outstation in Chesterfield...
Good news anyway, hopefully it'll bring some stability to the service - it's changed hands a few times now.

Means 55 can be based in chesterfield if there's a outstation there plus less dead millage

There's a lot more than goes into opening an outstation than simply having a few routes that happen to pass that area.
Depends how it's organised. Matlock shows that you don't need many vehicles there to make one viable, as I guess does Baslow.
I think DCT used the Ford and Slater place off Chatsworth Road - I wonder if a similar arrangement could be made?
The current 55 is timed to work from the Alfreton end, but I suspect that's not the most optimal arrangment for passengers. N&D also run some Derby Uni services I believe?
Of course a big factor would be where drivers are based - no point having the buses near the starting point if the drivers have further to go.
