I can third that on Red Arrow at Parliament Street
I've always wondered when trent will withdraw 480/3 along with 491/2, they seem to be extremely tired (especially 491/2) and now that derby seemed to have received 747, there's a chance that we won't wait long...Just a few years ago, the four Optare Solos numbered 480 to 483 would get painted in the brighter red generic Trentbarton livery. 481 and 482 would soon be withdrawn. I doubt any more will be painted. 480 and 483 try to run daily, at Sutton Junction.. Photo at Derby attached. No id on the shopping trolley![]()
Maybe the soon to be ex Sixes Versas will cause a cascade of buses that see them off. That said, they keep going.I've always wondered when trent will withdraw 480/3 along with 491/2, they seem to be extremely tired (especially 491/2) and now that derby seemed to have received 747, there's a chance that we won't wait long...
770-771 have already entered service with the rest to follow as and when they're readyWhat's the latest with 772-779 the Wright Eclipse B8s are they any nearer to entering service yet?
I’m sure 772/3 were pictured at LM in the last week or so pretty much ready to goWhat's the latest with 772-779 the Wright Eclipse B8s are they any nearer to entering service yet?
2 more have arrived at Derby. One is 773 so probally going though final prep for service. What's the latest with 772-779 the Wright Eclipse B8s are they any nearer to entering service yet?
I presume it is 774 parked behind 773. I couldn't quite see when I walked past.2 more have arrived at Derby. One is 773 so probally going though final prep for service.

That will be a shame. You must be disappointed480/3 expected to be displaced by ex sixes Versas.
It would still have been nice to have gained some of the Volvos that are due displacement for the 90.That will be a shame. You must be disappointed
I can't recall Sutton Junction ever really having many decent, sorry heavyweight buses. Okay they had the aged Scanias on the Pronto. I wonder what earlier ones there were? Must have been before the Excels. Maybe it helps keep costs of operation downIt would still have been nice to have gained some of the Volvos that are due displacement for the 90.
816 away for a new engine.
The excels weren't heavy weight though to be fair.I can't recall Sutton Junction ever really having many decent, sorry heavyweight buses. Okay they had the aged Scanias on the Pronto. The Paladins seem a distant memory now. Some of the Citaros with other operators still give a great ride. The excels weren't heavy weight though to be fair.
Probably be the Paladins before.
We did have the citaros too, to be fair.
Pre-Excel, my 1999 Bus Handbook shows sixteen Paladins (101-116) at Sutton Junction, along with two Leyland Nationals. Plus fifteen B10M double-deckers and two Olympians. The excels weren't heavy weight though to be fair.

Beautiful, makes me feel old that we still had the one Paladin in service when I started on the unibus we ran to Buxton, safe to say it ended up in my hands on various shuttle bus services.Pre-Excel, my 1999 Bus Handbook shows sixteen Paladins (101-116) at Sutton Junction, along with two Leyland Nationals. Those were the days!
The citaro was a great drive - once you got used to the gearbox/retarder disliking each other! The Paladins seem a distant memory now. Some of the Citaros with other operators still give a great ride.
Loved those City buses.Beautiful, makes me feel old that we still had the one Paladin in service when I started on the unibus we ran to Buxton, safe to say it ended up in my hands on various shuttle bus services.

Always sad. Especially when it involves an 11 year old child.i4 E200mmc 132 (YX68 ULD) appears to have been involved in an accident yestetday evening in Derby.
Some details on the accident in this Article from TheSun
Which immediately started leaking (what was probably) coolant at Belper garage, not sure what happened with it after but it seemed to have stayed thereAlways sad. Especially when it involves an 11 year old child.

Sixes Volvo 774 has entered service today on Sixes... Noted in the Morledge at 14.25 heading to the bus station
Presume that means either 846 or 847 is part of the 10.. Seeing as 845 was a little damaged.Well, good luck to swift & comet… they seem a bit overkill for harlequin too..
Honestly this isn't even a bad idea in theory, it's just that the sixes route was a lot for the versas to handle (you could say the same for the comet AND swift for the volvos but the 2 spare versas seem to handle them just fine) it all really comes down to good maintenance and seeing whether the passenger count can cope with the smaller number of seatsWell, good luck to swift & comet… they seem a bit overkill for harlequin too..
Is the Comet as busy as it was before COVID? I used to see fairly full buses leave Derby around 10.05. Now a lot less on. But, however you look at it, the Volvos will not last forever..Honestly this isn't even a bad idea in theory, it's just that the sixes route was a lot for the versas to handle (you could say the same for the comet AND swift for the volvos but the 2 spare versas seem to handle them just fine) it all really comes down to good maintenance and seeing whether the passenger count can cope with the smaller number of seats
Not sure how busy it was pre-covid, but at times in the past year or so ive been on it, its can get pretty packed at timesIs the Comet as busy as it was before COVID?
Definitely not, there was a reason why they decided to make the route hourly from being every 30 minutes (hence 746/7 being taken off the route). As for the volvos, they have definitely seen better days but, for example, having a bus serve the same, challenging route for a decade straight doesn't really help things at allIs the Comet as busy as it was before COVID?
