If Solos were to be sent to TM Travel Id have thought the 501 to 506 batch would be considered.
Yes that’s what I was implying by 63 plates. I think it’s more likely for them to be displaced by versas so they could go to Tm travel rather than withdraw the older solos and still have non-compliant vehicles in Sheffield CAZ.

I tend to remember number plates better rather than fleet numbers that’s all

I seem to recall, a while back, that Versas 824 and 827 came to Derby. I expected them to be regulars on the V3, but Solos seem far more common again nowadays.

Yea as the solos are far more reliable...it seems
I did suggest to an Allestree driver, that used to be on V3, that they might like the Allestree Enviro 200MMCs on the V3, and give Allestree the Solos . ;). They did give a reason, and it wasn't "you wouldn't get to Acapulco on an Optare Solo". Meanwhile, 492 appears on the Allestree.

Please no, I’d rather keep the solos:D

TM Travel question. Why do a few of their Sheffield routes have an "M" route number prefix? For example, why is the M76 the M76 and not the 76B?
M routes were introduced by sypte or it's new alternative to show subsidized to differentiate between commercial operations

It goes back to at least the 1990s (possible late 1980s), the M stands for minibus and back in the days of South Yorkshire Transport were operated by their "Little Nipper" vehicles.

A number of those tendered local services still survive including the M17 from Dore to Jordanthorpe, currently operated by TM Travel, which operates a route taking in narrow residential streets and the odd tight turn! Its main purpose is picking people up on estates away from the main bus routes either to travel to local facilities such as shops, doctors, libraries etc or to connect into main longer distance bus routes in Dore, Totley, Bradway, Lowedges, Greenhill and Batemoor.

The M76 is a strange one as it is a new invention and a renumbering of the previous 76a, the only difference being it goes to Sheffield Interchange instead of Arundel Gate and doesn't really need to be a minibus. The planners do seem to have found serving Chancet Wood a challenge over the years and as far as I can tell the main usage is pensioners travelling to Woodseats for the medical centre/library complex and local shops.

811 has now transferred to the driver training academy.

813's use in the academy is now for the 'finishing school' where team members participate in a simulated environment based on events they are likely to come across when at depot. This takes place upon completion of the practical test.

Tempos are restricted to yard based CPC modules.

346 and 347 are spares anyway so I wouldn't say it's unusual..
Good to see someone talking with a bit of common sense here.

Not too different to when Sutton have to use 176/7 on connect, or Nottingham using 506 on anything other than rushcliffe villager or Derby using 669 on Harlequin/V3, it happens.

So, are both the Tempos still operational, even if not leaving Langley Mill depot?

Is 811 joining to boost the training fleet or replacing a vehicle?

9307 is certainly still operational enough for the depot and the reversing test and Mod 4. When I was up there I didn't see 9308.

9308 in workshop

811 joining with a view to the Scanias being ousted mid-late 2026. Which will answer some people's questions about where displaced yellow / red Versas will be heading.

Wednesday's demise of Sprint Solo 1 seems to have resulted in some unexpected workings today. Although the new term doesn't start till Monday, Sprint and Campus Shuttle have been running a full term-time service today - presumably to cater for students returning to campus. Campus Shuttle is being run by Sprint Solo 6 and Volvo 714. Other oddities are 25 plate ADL 346 helping out on 9, and possibly the most unexpected - ADL 347 running on 2/3.

It was because of the open day on Friday/Saturday

For the sprint/cs service today.

2-6 were on sprint.

830 (briefly), 503 and 346 were on Campus Shuttle.

New for this year is the additional journeys that operate after 6pm. Five additional journeys means that Campus Shuttle finishes at 7pm. What is still strange is that sprint still has the terminus as Mechanical Engineering after 18:20 instead of Holywell Park - something that I think needs looking into.

I actually thought 9308 might have gone for scrap.

Seems like only one more bus needs to be repainted for The Two, I'm curious if any of the buses have had branding put up yet.
From the looks of those done, 147 may well be the last ..Presume 146 becomes a spare or a Cotgrave

154 most likely to go into twos as well although it required an engine replacement due to a minor thermal incident…

In other news things could become very tight at kinch soon with 502 the only bus in the fleet not out today… although 346/7 were filling in on skylink it leaves next to no spares for breakdowns/cover

502 was in the yard Derby when I left so I presume for MOT

The fun part.

145 was the last I'd heard about a Cotgrave replacement vehicle - though as always things change.
Makes most sense considering it keeps them in the same batch, although if 146/7 have to be repainted anyway it may be worth doing one of those rather than them presumably going to spares to then paint a spare into cotgrave

Indeed. Like I say plans do change - you should've seen the orginal plans for displaced threes versas vs what actually happened!
