Yeah fair enough, still much better than Arriva's offering though. Watch them come out with a bright red livery for the X38 :D.
Having been past langley mill myself quite frequently recently, i do keep looking out for a new x38 being showed off in the yard. Does seem they are keeping it all hush until they are all ready for the roads. I couldn't imagine what they have planned for the livery. But i know itll be good with the livery selections being designed recently

How come the 66 plate E200's are destined for the Skylink? Skyline Not'm has 67 plates and Derby has mostly 20 plates.
People assumed there for skylink as there at blackburn for repaint and trentbarton only normally sends repaints there when needing luggage rails fitted which is required for skylink.
The reson these may be designed for skylink would be because kinchbus hasn't had enough buses to run skylink when it got improved frequency from 20 to 15mins which is why they brought over all those mango spares from trent and the kinch soare and skylinks alone wasnt enough. Painting some these 66 plates would free up the spare mangos which may go back to trent? however thats my speculation im not 100% if they will go back to trent
Are all 6 planned to go to Kinchbus for the Derby service then?
Hopefully the demand is maintained when the £2 price cap gets watered down. Going from Leicester to Derby for £2 was probably the best trip I ever made by bus.
And no I think it's just 101-104 which are in blackburn correct me if I'm wrong

To be honest, I'm surprised the new X38 is doing as well as it is.
Would be interesting to see what happens when the price cap no longer exists since TB is usually more expensive than Arriva. Will the cost-conscious consumers just get the slightly cheaper Arriva instead?

Doubt it really. Most days pretty much all the skylink mmcs are out except 151. Which leads them to need 1 spare being 107/8. If anything they need more versas/srs.

I only think the mmcs went to blackburn was because they were sending 739. Would be easier to send all 5 to the same company for a repaint at the same time than send 1 to a company and send the other 4 to another.

Had the misfortune to ride on one of the new ADL200 today on the V3. The suspension was very poor. The ride is terrible on a state of the art bus.Are they built down to a price.

Personally I think it will be split some people going for cheaper some going for whatever is 1st. A good example of this I think is yourbus (although ain't the best to compare to as its a smaller company to arriva) with trentbarton both used to carry a fair amount of passengers on the same route although your us was significantly cheaper but who knows how it will do plus there different factors which yourbus and trent dont have for example arriva is a bigger company and can afford to sustain the cheaper rates longer as 1 example so its just speculation. Also some people may prefer 1 company to another so may not always be necessary which is cheaper.
However I'll be interested how it would go when the 2 pound cap goes

Having been on 329 on H1, Rainbow 1 and red arrow. They really aren't. Not to mention the road quality on V3 wouldn't help. Atleast its better than 827 which it replaced!
As well the fact its been on Sixes quite alot wont help the ride quality

Depends if they keep the cap. Trent have said they will if they have similar terms & conditions to the current ones. Arriva haven't stated anything on social media however.

The full weekday service requires 3 spares (although in reality at least 4 are currently needed each day due to 151 being long term out of service). That being said if I do think the Skylink Express is the most likely of the skylink services for them to appear on as the current 20 year old Scannias will only last so long.

Skylink express only has 2 scanias left though with only one out most day as far as I know

I wasn't counting the mango branded busses as spares because technically they are on it permanently creating the full service.

Some days both scanias are out on skylink express, but its once in a blue moon at this point.
You say that, but if a couple of months frequenting the Sixes is all it takes to knacker the suspension, that's not great.
I don't know, the ilkeston flyers seem to be doing pretty well still and that's a mix of motorway and ilkeston roads which were quite bad when i had the b7s on it. Not to mention its a spare so will be more overworked with more variety of routes than most of the vehicles so alot of different road types. When i've been on 329 though the suspensions been fine.

The Skylink now has a peak vehicle requirement of sixteen, whereas there are only thirteen buses branded for the Skylink, including 151 which was rear-ended months ago. They'll need at least three more buses for the Skylink in the short term.

Hence why I could see 101 to 104 going on. Citaro 906 won't remain on long, and it isn't unusual to have a Solo SR on it. Given as 151 has been mentioned, there are a few buses with the need for serious repair. 151, 314, 804 (fire) and 836 spring to mind

But branded plus the 3 mangos make the 16. Sure they aren't branded but still can count as the pvr. Probably cheaper, and easier for them to keep the mangos for now and wait till they order new vehicles to get the full skylink branded fleet.

How come it takes so long to repair 151?
Does anyone know if the white E200's at Kinchbus (transferred from TM recently) are on a loan from an external company, because I've heard a rumour that at least one got purchased outright?

Would be down to inspections, insurances (especially since a drunk driver hit it), getting parts and actually having it be repaired. Since its being repaired externally (not at kinch) it'll take longer since they will have orders before that which will take more priority and since 151 is quite a big job they will do smaller jobs that aren't 151 in between to keep the jobs running and prevent a bigger backlog forming. In essence just doing repairs on 151 if and when they can (id assume).

Ah makes sense. Do you know if 151 is the one that got rear ended on London Road, just outside Blue Peter, a few months back? I remember driving past a Skylink bus that got rear-ended and the police closed the road (couldn't get the reg. or number as I was driving).

It happened when 151 was sitting on Derby Road near the former 3M during the night of the 8th/9th of April, apparently while waiting time on its way to Derby.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a crash involving a car and a bus in Loughborough. Emergency services were called to Derby Road in the town at 12.38am today (Tuesday, April 9).

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service alleged a car had collided with a parked bus, and shared photographs of the aftermath of the incident. It said two fire crews were called to the scene, one from Loughborough and another from Birstall.

The incident was then left with Leicestershire Police, which said its officers had arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with the incident. The force said he has been released while further investigation into the incident was completed.

Nobody was injured or left trapped following the incident, the fire service said. It said a fuel spill was cleared up following the crash.
