According to bustimes, 663 is currently (7/9/24 @ 18:59) on the Indigo. Is this is a tracking error?

Presently, Alan Moss Road in Loughborough is closed at its extreme eastern end at the junction with Derby Road (for gas repairs), meaning the Kinchbus 5 is on diversion via Epinal Way, Knightthorpe Road and Derby Road.
The peculiar thing is that though the buses physically use the above diversion route, they often track on BusTimes as if they barrelled through the blockade! This was also true the last time this diversion happened merely about a year ago.
Simultaneously, Beaumont Road is closed at its junction with Ling Road (also for gas works, I believe), requiring the Kinchbus 12 to divert through Ling Road, Park Road and Howe Road. Yet they also seem to track straight through the road closure, which is physically impossible!
Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Would think bus times works off the timetable. Unless it is a megga diversion, the system might just sense a tracking issue and just join two points, giving the impression of going somewhere it couldn't.

It pings onto the route so like trainman said if its quite a big diversion like rainbow one has currently it will just ping to where it thinks it is. Quite commonly vehicles around derby bus station look like they are in the river, if the vehicles didn't ping to the route then it would look messy like this and you probably often wouldn't know where the vehicle actually is

Does anyone know where 101 through to 106 are destined to?
No clue mate. I think some drivers may have been informed but can't say publicly. Some of them have been sent to Bus & Coach Blackburn though (check flickr), along with 739, so may be having luggage racks fitted (can't say for certain about the ex-mickleovers), but outside of the drivers, we will just have to wait and see I suppose. If some of them do end up with luggage racks then I could see them popping up on skylink derby and sending back their mango MMCs to their respective trentbarton depots, but it is still anyone's guess about where they could go. I've heard calverton, keyworth, spare, skylink derby etc. mentioned, so I don't want to say for definite that they may be going to a certain route.

Yet only the other day it was said 727 was going to be the extra vehicle on Keyworths, suggesting Volvo operation continues.

It does make sense, 726, 732, 733, 734 and 828 have all been put into that x38 livery yet 727 has been left. Would suggest they are going to use that for keyworth

I mean they wouldn't have applied vinyls to 828 instead of 727 by accident...
Some people use the logic that the ex-mickleovers will be going on it though. That and the calverton seem to have been the more popular speculations among enthusiasts.

Yeah, its smart though, keep vehicles on the road making a profit while other busses get sorted and repainted, rather than taking up space in the depot and not making any money. Cant see the versa having to go out much though only if its really required to since they now have 726 to use if a volvo breaksdown / put an extra on if theres delays like they did yesterday

Yet some say that former Ilkeston Flyer Volvos will go on the X38.

Not to come across as rude, but I think a lot of people know this, especially because it's at Bus & Coach Blackburn where 743 & 744 also got refurbished for skylink express.
Not taken as rude, was just confirming that is what it’s up at Blackburn for

I think what people mean by that is the ex H1 buses are a stopgap to see if it’s viable, and if it is, the Flyer Volvos will be refurbed to replace the lot. Don’t see why they’d bother though, and judging by the loadings on the new X38 I can’t see the upped frequency lasting.

I can see the ex Mic ADLs going to the Calverton, they’d suit the route, there’s the right number, and the existing buses are getting on a bit.

I can't say I have really noticed the loadings on Ilkeston Flyer. From last Saturday they are down to 7 buses an hour... (3 Arriva, 4 Trentbarton) . Both charging fares. Maybe it will attract more business for people going to the Royal when the main car park closes. Time will tell.

I was on one of the x38s on saturday and two elderly passengers got very angry at the driver when the bus "skipped" derby bus station and went from corporation street to Victoria street.

Further down on the route going past royal I saw an arriva x38 and it looked empty whereas trents looked relatively full.
(You also got the numbers wrong its 4 arriva 5 for trentbarton).

I was referring to the X38 loadings sorry, I’ve edited my post for clarity.

But surely my numbers PER Hour are correct. Arriva every 20 minutes, Trentbarton every 15 minutes

If some were headed to Kinch it’d make sense to keep the Mango MMCs to cover other Kinch routes given the current fleet is proven to be inadequate to keep services operating for most of the year.

But the local services will all be electric buses, by 2030, hopefully much earlier.

I'd suggest the Kinchbus electrification will be a whole lot sooner than 2030 - as I recall, the ZEBRA2 awards have to have vehicles ordered by January 2025.
