Although a management contract First have increased frequency above the required levels.
Only the Mercs belong to CC as the rest of CC's buses were torched, and have not yet been replaced. The Scania's are supplied by First.
First have almost doubled profits, which is a sign of strong management, especially when they are paying the drivers more than WG were.
The 2 was reduced due to the council pulling the subsidy, meaning the frequency was no longer economically viable. You can't expect a business to continue unviable frequency.

Using Scanias supplied on a hire contract by First from Reading Buses! I'd still agree with you on Fist & P&R duties as from our experiences down here in Hampshire - Were First's new Portsmouth Network map might have proved controversial at first, but has settled in very nicely to become a much better service, and done an excellent job on the 'Eclipse' busway and Portsmouth Park & Ride services - even to the extent of showing Stagecoach & GoAheads Bluestar up rather nicely. First's management team certainly has improved very nicely and it's showing in a lot of places, something BoS is starting to show too.

Sticking back to this original thread, Has First brought anything newer into BoS or are they managing to compete (rather well by the sounds of it!) against a slightly newer fleet of WB?

I've been informed First have now purchased those scanias, and will be staying in the local fleet when the new council owned citaros arrive,

BoS fleet seems to be the majority of buses that were new between 1999 and 2004.

Of course if BoS managed to turn around the operations, im sure some newer and brand new buses could appear in time.

First have brought all sorts into BoS - the newest stuff is on the P&R. Everything else is older - as richw said 1999-2004.

The 17.00 26 from Wells had people on it! 2 people! It's picking up obviously.

Not quite right. The now green B7RLEs were new in Jan 2006. Not to be taken as gospel (as it's a gross oversimplification) but here's the modest improvement:

6 2003 Tridents arrived to replace 1998 Olympians
4 2006 B7RLE (& a 2004 example) replaced 2002 B7Ls that were swapped for same aged B6LEs to replace 1998/9 Darts and two 2003 Solos
1999 Tridents replaced 2002 B7Ls to be swapped with same aged B6LEs (& 1 2005 Solo) for additional workings

Apparently, another 4 B7RLEs are allegedly due from elsewhere within First to see off the some more B7Ls. As I say, that's a macro outline though others will give a more detailed resume of X replaced Y that saw Z withdrawn

The hired Streetlites are only on loan for P&R until the emergency contract concludes.

What are the 4 B7RLE's? Are these deckers?

First Pompey have improved but are hardly shining stars.Eclipse is painfully slow and the park and ride whilst packed runs to a random timetable the drivers make up andalways leaves people at city stops so the frequency needs upping(I know not firsts fault but causing many to think twice about parking) .drivers also not the friendliest.the rest of the network still awful and unreliable.

The 26 is not well. Of what I've seen there are about 3-4 people at peak Times. Don't know what it's like this week and off peak.

37/38 seem to be ok. Morning peak there is 1 person if lucky, but evening peak has about 10 or so people on board both ways.

Not sure how they can justify these loadings?
