Winter could be on the way...
Several models are in agreement that we could be pulling down very cold weather from the arctic by next weekend, and if certain runs are to be believed temperatures in the North may not reach above 0C. In this scenario there may be a significant amount of snow for the UK.
However, there are still a lot of uncertainty, all models are yet to agree on this outcome and the details of the longevity of this cold spell are still very sketchy.

I agree that the prospects for cold are good, but I don't see much propect of snow away from high ground, other than the odd wintry shower on northern and eastern areas.

Overall I expect a cold but dry period. But nothing out of the ordinary for the time of year.

Indeed, the runs for extreme cold and snow are outliers and the scenario you describe is more realistic.
