I suspect that what MerseyTravel want will take 2nd seat to what Network Rail/HS2/HS3 want and what we will get is the cheapest option they can find.

The cheapest option is do nothing and that's the current plan. As depressing as it is, there's probably more chance of HS2 being cancelled than Liverpool being included in any of the infrastructure.

Sadly I think that is the most likely option, especially since Lime Street is already soon to get alterations made. If anything else was going to happen in the next 15 to 20 years I think the current planned changes wold be on hold.

Though even if he continues in the pointless role of city Mayor when Steve Rotheram (almost certainly he) becomes regional Mayor, he'll lose his remit for transport. Come to think of it, he doesn't really have one at the moment, because Merseytravel is run by a joint committee of all the Merseyside boroughs.

That looks like the 60 or early 70s. Was the WCML done to W10 back then? It doesn't look as tight a fit as I thought.

Oddly the sectional appendix gives WCML as W9!
