Unlikely to happen as the modellers hope the capacity increase by this project will last until the slow lines go into the crossrail 2 tunnels.

Thanks for confirming that, it did seem a fairly logical explanation hence me suggesting it in the earlier post.

They originally extended some distance beyond the roof, surely enough for 10-cars - you can see their original length in this map and how far they extended beyond a pair of 4SUBS in this 1974 photo

Looking at Google Maps https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.5013131,-0.1131092,175m/data=!3m1!1e3 very little was trimmed off them; the 1974 photo looks to have been taken from roughly the present 8 car limit. It's possible that there may have been 2 car units stabled at the buffer ends - those look like 6 car rakes, except the SUB in plat 3 can't be as they only had 4 car versions. The EPB in plat 2 could have been a 6 car of course.

12 car is impossible in 1-6 without either moving the incoming signal gantry, or adding an extra deck on the south end of Westminster bridge road overbridge; or maybe both. Unlikely to happen as the modellers hope the capacity increase by this project will last until the slow lines go into the crossrail 2 tunnels.

12 car isn't possible without a new viaduct and laying waste to a sizeable chunk of Lower Marsh. It is what you might say is a 'non-preferred' option.

District Line services between the city and Wimbledon are the be 'enhanced' during the period of the Waterloo closure.
I take it spare capacity exists for them to be enhanced then

More likely that District line overall capacity is capped at Earls Court, so they'll reduce a couple of existing western branches and run a few more trains as far as Wimbledon. For example take a couple of existing Richmond and Ealing Broadway services and divert to/from Wimbledon, and divert a couple of existing Wimbledon to Edgware Rd to Tower Hill instead. So the frequency at Earls Court stays the same.

Just my thoughts, but it seems likely that at peak time LU stock is fully utilised.

My thoughts too, just so long as there are not reductions also on the Windsor lines slow services, causing South West London commuters to head for the District Line at Richmond.

That's what I'd guess as well, possibly with some additional Piccadilly stops at Turnham Green

There's a lot of spare S Stock floating around until the late running Four Lines Signalling is commissioned.

No line capacity to do that.

Did you look at the map I linked to? It clearly shows that 1-4 extended much further than they do today and weren't far off the length of 5-6, as can also be seen in this aerial photo

Look at the roof - these days it covers almost the whole length of platforms 1-4, but thanks to the rain in that 1974 photo you can see how much further the platforms once extended.

Yes, I did - and that's not a huge difference in length. About 2 cars worth at the most.

More publicity of the blockade next Summer taking place today. SWT talking about it on Twitter and leaflets and ticket wallets were being handed out at Waterloo. No more new information as far as I can tell, but from the reactions on Twitter a lot of people were realising just how disruptive it is going to be. I guess that's very much the point, the more people think it's going to be a nightmare, hopefully the more will plan to avoid it.
