VTWC crew diagrams Glasgow central

Hello,

This is a pretty random question, but does anyone know what the roster is like for TMs and or on trains CSAs at VTWC at Glasgow Central?

And does anyone have any examples of typical turns or diagrams? I know the catering crew can work full route and TMs only know north of Preston.

Expect to spend lots of time in Preston messroom!

I've not seen the diagrams for a few years but it used to be that most TM jobs were either simple out and backs to Preston or in one direction you'd travel via Edinburgh (travelling pass between Glasgow and Edinburgh). It looked like a rather cushy or boring depot depending on your way of looking at things.

As far as catering is concerned, anything goes. Again, my info is 4 years out of date but back then at least they used to go to Euston and Birmingham, and on at least one very long job both! Some passing to and from Edinburgh as well.

Lovely bunch working there as well, I always enjoyed working up that way. I even applied for a full time position up there despite living in Wolverhampton at the time, thats how highly I rated the depot! I hope it's still as good today.

Well, from a passengers perspective, I must admit the Glasgow based catering crews and TMs have always come across as being a very friendly bunch and good to travel with.

Whenever ive taken a VTWC from Glasgow its been a Glasgow crew , are the later departures from Glasgow Central Euston or Preston crewed?

I don't think any of the Euston crews would get north of Preston (though I could be wrong; London catering crews get to Scotland on the East Coast but I don't think that happens on the West Coast)

Again I must include the caveat that my info is several years out of date, but back then both Wolves and Euston catering staff used to work all the way to Edinburgh and Glasgow, and likewise Scottish staff worked all the way south. Scottish TMs and Drivers however don't go south of Preston, and Wolves and Euston ones don't go north of Preston. Preston traincrew and catering staff go both ways. There is also a small depot of catering crew based at Carlisle.

Also, do any drivers or TMs regardless where they are based sign the Rutherglen & Coatbridge Railway (Mossend - Whifflet - Mount Vernon - Rutherglen), as that was recently electrified a couple of years ago?

Surely the first question to ask about that route is whether or not Pendolinos have been cleared for it.

Ive seen TPE 350S go that way but not VT . VT would around Mount Florida .

Yep I may be getting mixed up with VTEC . TPE has catering staff from Manchester definitely work to Scotland and back .
Seen a catering person get on at Carlisle too,extra support for Brekkie?

There certainly did used to be some short days that were just Edinburgh/Glasgow to Carlisle and back - though as i pointed out earlier, there is a depot for catering crew at Carlisle as well.

I'm not sure what the current state of play is. I do believe though that Preston never signed Glasgow-Carlisle via Kilmarnock, it was only Glasgow crews who signed that way.
