I love the way you said “declined” as if he was offering you something!
To be fair-initially the request was made with good intention...

Arrive Awesome I did not as I spent half my journey arguing with the TM! :d

If you get insults from the crew then instantly complain via email without fail.

I hate passengers disrespecting staff more than almost anything but vice versa is just as bad.
And you report them and if you see them again on another journey they can turn on you I've had issues myself due to a member off staff on Twitter.. calling passengers a c word and then it back fired on me and got crap from other staff eventually.

Wherever I lay my hat
My allocated seat this morning was in Coach K, and for most of my journey I was the only passenger in it. It was party time for the half dozen staff though, they were sat at the kitchen end talking and making phone calls constantly. I had been allocated seat 8, but luckily I wasn't stopped from sitting in one of the few forward facing ones, which happened to be at the entry door end, but even there it was a bit noisy most of the time. I suppose they are allowed to socialise among themselves, but I did wonder what proportion of their paid working time they are actually working. Still, if they kept everyone happy then I don't suppose they were doing anything wrong.
