Am i right in thinking that 7 double-sets are required for these services then, totalling 14 221's being traded away from the Birmingham to Glasgow/Edinburgh's, in favour of Pendolinos?

I.e. 09:45 Birmingham to Euston arrives 12:28
13:00 Euston to Birmingham arrives 15:26
15:45- Sets same as 09:45 service etc.

I don't know if anyone's aware of this, but some of the Birmingham-Euston Super Voyagers actually start or terminate at Preston, reducing the number of Pendos needed to run the Birmingham to Scotlands.

Examples include the 09:45 ex Birmingham, which starts at Preston, at 07:20.

The 16:00 & 17:00 ex Euston also continue to Preston, arriving at 20:43, and 21:35 respectively.

Surely since Euston can take 16 carriage trains (e.g. sleeper, and the service is Non-stop, they could use 3 221''s giving 15 carriages of seating. Thiis would aleviate over crowding, whilst leaving plenty of Pendo's for the otehr services.

Yes, the times have been in the system for a little while now.

As i said before, we have the 07:20 & 08:29 Preston to London Euston Super Voyager services next Saturday, which are the 09:45 & 10:45 ex Birmingham International, via High Wycombe.

Also to note, is that the 06:15 Preston to Birmingham N St, is also extended to London Euston next Saturday, BUT runs via Birmingham, Coventry & Rugby, not Leamington Spa etc.

The Preston workings are slightly different next Saturday, compared to the general timetable from the Saturday after.

I was just clarifying the fact that it is a Super Voyager service movement, in relation to the diversions via High Wycombe.

The 06:51 Preston to Euston arrives in Euston around 30 minutes earlier than the 06:15, as it runs via Tamworth as usual, allbeit with additional stops, e.g. at Nuneaton.

According to another member on here, you said you're a TM for Cross Country and live in Plymouth. You seriously are a joker. I've met you on a Green Express once, with your mum, I was 16 at the time afaik, and you must have been about 15, considering you were on a child ticket! This was only two years ago, so if XC are taking 17-year old TMs onboard now, then the whole forum could get a job with them!! (of note, apparently it is very hard to get a job such as TM directly with XC, and they prefer you to start as a 'trolley dolly' or such type first, now that could be feasible, Ian?)- Get a life mate.

With all these diverted 221s, are the Brum - Glasgow runs on Saturdays run by 390s? I plan to go to Lancaster on 26th July on the 1103 from Brum, would like to know if it's a 221 or 390.

Pendolinos are definately booked to run weekend Birmingham-Scotland services from this Saturday, including the Edinburgh's (not just Glasgow), (But obviously not the through Super Voyagers running the two direct Preston-Euston and return services)

The Pendolino's on this route should be running at least on weekends until the direct Birmingham-London Super Voyager's finish.

The service you quote appears to be departing New Street at 10:51, with the 12 minutes extra between New Street and Crewe, stopping additionally at Sandwell and Dudley and Stafford, and taking its normal path north of Crewe.

It is very, very, likely that it is a Pendolino, but I can't yet tell for sure.

VWC staff at Glasgow ticket office were suggesting that it would be a Pendo, but with Voyager services (ie no at seat staff in FC north of Preston, so a long walk to the shop for FC as well as SC passengers. Reservations will be issued as per Voyagers in case of problems, (so there will be loads of unreserved seating!). I did wonder to myself if they would lock a chunk of FC OOU.....I guess we wait and see.

Is it just the Virgin 57's which can haul the Pendo's? Or could the DRS / Advenza / FGW ones also be used?

I'm a little confused by this statement, as the FC at-seat service is only offered on weekdays, with a small number of Pendolinos supposedly having it on weekends as well, but i've never been on a Pendo with at-seat FC service over the weekend...

(So passengers expecting to travel on a Super Voyager, who get a Pendo instead, shouldn't be dissapointed if there isn't an at-seat service on the Pendo, as the Super Voyager wouldn't have offered it any way).

Well there are an increasing number of the Birmingham-Glasgow services being run by a Pendo's (are the 221's in for exams??) during the week, and Friday night / Monday morning workings may also be altered to ensure all SuperVoyagers are in the right place for Weekend diversions. So it could be that Friday / Monday servcies will be altered in this way.

Excellent news with the re-introduction of the Megatrain tickets. I was disappointed to not find them earlier this year, to have them back will be super useful. Ta for the gen on that!
