Thank you for all replies and response guys, as I can see there is no set rule for what contract you can get with VT, I think its just a bit of luck.. I am fully aware of probation period, thats just a standard procedure with every company and dont have a problem with that, but I have been offered 3 months temp, obviously its always a chance that they will extend the contract if Im lucky, but in the end of the day you never can be certain even if you perform well, what the future will bring and dont have this peace in mind when you on probation leading to permanent.. I am delighted I have been offered position after such a long waiting time, but its just this little disappointment, that its a very short contract, it just feels like you there just to feel the gap for long term sickness or maternity.. I dont think I would ever apply for any job for 3 month temp, unless out of work, but then thats this long waited position, so probably it is worth to take a risk and hope it will all work well one day for me:) I dont want to sound negative , its just a big decision for me to leave long term perm role for 3 months..Hope it s is all worth it! :) Railpem, sorry to hear you work all weekends and you are not so happy about that, hope it will change one day for you, at least its perm and yes it is the same base:) Hope you re all enjoying.

Hi Vixen,

Do you start shadowing next week? If so enjoy every minute of it. I have now completed 2 months onboard and it is brilliant. I've not done 1 week under 40 hours and there is loads of work for everyone. Everyone is really friendly and will help you with anything you need to know. If you need anything let me know. I am on holiday next week but will still get back to you.

A bit confused today as I meant to shadow for 2 weeks and now I found out its 3? Good luck x

Hi,

I shadowed for 3 weeks too but thought that was because of Christmas. I generally work lates, but have done a few earlies. I prefer lates though. I felt stressed too when I started shadowing just take it at your own pace and learn from your mistakes. Everybody is helpful. So will hopefully see you soon xxx

K.Milne where have you gone from Facebook? Wanted to say the real Flying Scotsman is travelling from Kings Cross to York tomorrow. Don't think I will see it....

Hi Guys, Railpem, Im more relaxed now, thanks for all gd words..:) Im sure we will see soon on some point.. apparently they want all new staff to shadow for 3 weeks now, as 2 was not long enough.., so Im happy about that. I will definitely feel more confident after that, when I go live. I would prefer lates too, but I know that I will have to do earlies first... Enjoying so far.., but its hard to get to the speed of work, when still not so experienced;).. K. Milne .. Im just thinking the time is flying! Cant believe you re already there few months:) good luck, fingers -x !
