82126 will stay with the Pretendalino at WB as spare/charter rake. 82101 and the spare RFM are being returned to Porterbrook.

Nothing is going to be scrapped.

So DVT 82101 and RFM 10217 are going to be returned to Porterbrook. TBH, this doesn't surprise me as I don't think they have ever been used in revenue earning service. Hell, 82101 hasn't even been repainted. Any word on when they will be returned? Is there a source?

This is the only video I can find of them in use.

Also, has there been any more word on the transfer of the remainder of the 57/3 fleet to DRS.

I would assume that they will be returned to the leasing company on the day that the new franchise was meant to commence, December 9th; the same date that the Pretendolino rake will be stood down onto standby and charter use only.

Will the 57 fleet be transferred to DRS on this day also?

sorry? what are you asking?

The DVT in the old VT colours is going back to the leaseing company but i doubt it will go for scrap. has it not just had some work done on it at Eastleigh?

Yeah both 82101 and 82126 were down there recently for a bogie swap. This might just have meant swapping the worn bogies on 82126 for those on 82101 if they were in better condition, I don't know.

Those photos are of the two DVTs on their recent visit to Eastleigh for a bogie swap. There is no mention of them being "put on the scrap line". It is the "Niteq", Eastleigh's battery powered shunter, photos of which are contained in the same album, that has been moved onto the scrap line.

By which you mean this page where it says
30th October 2012 - Eastleigh Works
DVTs 82101 and 82126 arrive behind 47802 and 47501
The Niteq is shunted onto the scrap line

The "Niteq" (as is quite clear from the pictures) is a small shunter vehicle, I'm guessing for shifting individual carriages or even bogies around the yard. That caption in no way says the Virgin DVTs were going to be scrapped. It is not ambiguous.

82101 and 82126 were sent to Eastleigh for bogie swap as stated above. 82101 had previously received new wheelsets after an incident left it with severe falts. 82126 now sports almost full sized wheels.

82101 will be returned to PB at the franchise change and is likely to be put into storage.

AFAIK, 82101 has never been used in revenue-earning service with the Pretendolino. Is this correct? Also, why was it never repainted, because the spare RFM 10217 was even though it was equally rarely used.

Not the first, won't be the last.

It was robbed and in an absolute state with no possible further use.

I would guess corrosion damaged, ONE and Porterbrook scrapped 82119 back in 2005 for that very reason. It was also probably used as a Christmas tree to help with the 82/3 rebuilds.

Looks like 82101s now stored, as it dosn't appear to have made the trek back from Eastleigh Works.
