I always used to be able to select "use desktop site" on the first page when entering my journey requirements. Then that option disappeared, and I had to click on a drop-down menu in the top right hand corner of the second page, and select "desktop site" from there, after which I had to go back to the first page, and repeat my search, which would then bring up the desktop format.
For the last few weeks however, any search automatically defaults to what I assume is the mobile app view, and the drop-down menu now only gives two options: Personal Details and My Bookings. It is nigh on impossible to get to the desktop view, where I could look at all the options and price brackets before selecting, and not just have to scroll through endless and mostly unhelpful lists of timed trains. It still works fine on my MacBooks, it's just an iPhone problem.
I have used their Feedback click-through twice to ask about this, but had no contact nor seen any reversion to the old system.
I don't understand why anyone would choose the app view layout, unless they are wanting to travel immediately and need to know the next departure. In all other situations most people want to book a while ahead, and the mobile app version doesn't work for this, unless you are willing to spend ages fiddling around with it.
It is of course possible that there is something in my personal settings that has caused this problem, in which case can anyone suggest how I might reverse it? If however this is a general website change, how do others get around the limitations of the phone app version? Is there any way of forcing the desktop site to load on an iPhone? Or is it just me making heavy weather of it?
